I can't remember if it was after 1st scan or before. When i was pregnant with my first we were moving house so had to wait as we were moving to another area.

Ha ha ha ha ha. No midwife ever came. Even after the birth. Even when my skin started to grow over the staples along my c scar. Never ever ever.........

The national recommendation is to have your booking appt with midwife before 12 weeks, I just had mine at 10 weeks, BUT I think in practice it varies according to where you are.
I had my DS two years ago at Queen Charlottes and didnt see anyone until 16 weeks, the same time as I had first scan. Now with second baby I am booked at UCH. This is just down the road from QC but a different health trust. Here, a booking appt at 10 weeks and nuchal/integrated scans are available as standard - luck of the draw, not really fair but thats the NHS for you...

Midwives coming to visit you dont happen anywhere until after the baby is born as far as I know (unless you are having a home birth in which case they visit once before to assess your home and its distance to hospital etc).

Went to see MW at GP's to let her now and she booked scan, she then came to our house last week (9 weeks)for booking in and wants to see me after scan.

I also have her mobile number and all th other local community mw'S number in case there is a problme and need to get in touch, this is standard practise in our area.

It really does depend on area - here you aren't allowed to book in until you have a dating scan Grrr - at this rate I'll be in labour before I see a midwife. Plus they are legally obliged to visit you if you refuse to go to clinic (apparently).

Re scans you currently get a minimum of one at 20 weeks but most areas give you one at 12 weeks as well.

At 18 weeks, when she was called away after minutes to another area for a home birth. They are so overstretched here, through no fault of their own. It was at this point that I decided to go with an independent midwife.

I saw my GP at 8 weeks. Had my booking-in with midwife at 10 weeks followed by my first scan at 13 weeks. (Sussex btw)

First time round I didn't have a 12 week scan so saw my midwife at about 12wks for booking. This time I saw my midwife at about 10weeks for booking and then had a scan at 12weeks. So thing vary a bit I think.
