Light cramping and spotting after BFP- another chemical?

Hello and thank you for your perspectives in advance.

Partner and I have been TTC for over a year now. I have repeated chemical pregnancies (more than 3) and we are in the process of starting to seek assisted fertility.

Anyway I had some wondfos to spare this month so started testing on 9dpo when there was a faint positive! The tests have become progressively darker and this is now the darkest any pregnancy test has ever gotten for me! (Last picture taken was this morning with fmu at 14dpo) . However shortly afterwards this morning I started to feel period like cramps and had some light spotting when I wiped (sorry for the TMI). I’m worried it could be game over. Has anyone experienced this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

sorry for the long post!

Hello, just saw your post and didn’t want to read and run. How are you today? It’s a scary time in early pregnancy. With my first two pregnancies I experienced bleeding but all was okay so I am keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Hi hun how are you today?
I’m in a similar boat, had 2 chemicals this year and got my BFP last week. Going to test again tomorrow and hope for a dark line 🤞🏼 I’ve had some spotting too, it’s such an anxious time isn’t it.
I’ve also had 2 MMC so even when I go past the ‘chemical stage’ I can’t relax 🙈

Thank you both for your responses, and MrsS89K I’m sorry for your losses. I took another test today and it was darker than previously (pic attached). Some spotting I believe is normal but it’s the cramping that makes me worry. Just every so often but quite intense when they do. Who knows what’s going on! Hopefully time will tell soon. Congratulations on your bfp x

@TTC1pcos wow look at that strong line! It’s looking very positive
Have you been under EPU for any of your previous chemicals? I’m going to call mine on Friday if my test still has a strong positive tomorrow

TTC1pcos · 11/08/2021 21:46

Around a year ago I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but as they couldn’t find anything wrong and got referred to fertility clinic instead. I might call my GP next week if tests continue to get darker but really I don’t have any idea what I’m doing! This is my first pregnancy since the chemicals so treating it with cautious hesitation. Trying not to get too excited. @MrsS89K how are you feeling about everything? Fingers crossed for your dark line tomorrow!

It depends how you feel really. Where I live you can register with midwife team at 6 weeks. If you want a reassurance scan at EPU you could ask your GP to be referred on the basis you have had chemicals before. Some people prefer not to have them though as they only help you relax the day of the scan!
I’m feeling so shit to be honest. I’m nearly 32 years old and I want a baby more than anything in the world, but my body is against me 😭 I really hope it can hold onto this one. I’m on progesterone and aspirin this time so hoping they might help

TTC1pcos · 11/08/2021 22:19

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you hun! We’ve been trying for so long and we desperately want our little miracle so I know how you feel. Hopefully the progesterone is all it takes for you to get your little miracle too. Keep me updated on your progress!

Will do hun & please keep me posted too xx

@TTC1pcos wow your last line is strong! In terms of cramping do they feel exactly like period cramps? I had period pains for the full first 3 weeks of my pregnancy and I'm 35 weeks now. What colour is the spotting?

If they feel slightly different to period cramps and you keep bleeding you should get checked out by epu.

TTC1pcos · 12/08/2021 17:58

@Chica1990 tbh they do feel a lot like normal period pains- maybe a little sharper and less frequent. The spotting is mainly brownish in colour- haven’t had anything bright red yet. Yesterday’s line was strong but today’s looked a
little lighter but not holding out too much hope. So many chemicals and recurrent miscarriages have you feeling like it’s just never going to happen!

Did you have spotting along with your cramps? And would you say they were quite painful or normal period ones? It’s hard to know what’s normal! X
