How does luteal phase works?

Hi ladies

Can anyone help me work this one out? My period range from 25 to 32 days with an average of 29 days so is it possible to ovulate at any time or does it work out from 14 days from the start of your period?

For example, is it possible for me to ovulate late like day 21 or 23 and still have a period on day 29? or ovulate early like day 11? Im very confused so I would appreciate a bit of clarification and no I haven't used any Opks test, I just test by cervical mucous.

Your luteal phase, the time from ovulation to the start of your next period, is consistent for most women, but the time from the start of your period to when you ovulate can vary. So it might be that you normally ovulate somewhere between day 11 and 18 and have a 14 day luteal phase. You'd have to track ovulation to work out your own cycle.

Personally I have a short luteal phase of 10 days on average. I know that I ovulate quite late into my 27 day cycle. If you have irregular cycles I believe that your ovulation can change. I think the shorter the luteal phase the more tricky it may be to get pregnant (I’m not certain of this) as implantation can take upto 12 days (I think). OPKs are a great way to get to know your cycle. The first time I used them I started a couple of days after my period finished all the way up until I got a positive, the next month I had a fair idea of when I’d ovulate so started testing a few days before what I thought. The best way to find out when you ovalate and work out your lutal phase is to chart your basil body temperature, you have to take your temperature every morning at the same time , I used the app called fertility friend , it has loads of tutorials on how to read your char,I have a 27 day cycle , and found out i mostly ovulate on day 15 but rarely 16 so my lutal phase is 11 to 12 days,

I forgot to add that I also used opk kits along side app at first because it takes a couple of months to see your pattern
