Hi all,

Hoping you might be able to shed some light. A week and a half ago I did a test as I was 6 days late. Did one that came up with a faint positive line and then did a clear blue which said I was 1-2 weeks! The next day I started spotting, it was a brown colour which got gradually worse as the days went on! It then turned to bright red and then back to brown, this went on for a week (similar to a period but not as heavy) A few days after the bleeding started my boobs stopped hurting but this is now back again. Have to note that I am pretty sure I passed something in the toilet. I have done another clearblue today and it’s showing as 2-3. Does this mean I’m still pregnant? What would the next steps be?

@Yellowdiamond10 it may just be implantation bleeding as many women actually continue to bleed throughout pregnancy. If you've had bleeding that's like heavy clots & associated with shoulder pain then that's a BIG sign of a miscarriage. But if not, then hang in there and call the GP as they can request a blood test to check your HCG and confirm your pregnancy if it's viable or not

I’d probably phone the GP now if I were you, even just for some reassurance. I’ve personally not heard of implantation bleeding lasting a week with clots, but everybody is different. They might book you in with EPU for bloods and a scan, which would help you either way IMO. Some GPs don’t seem to like to refer to EPU, but I’d just be firm. Hope you get the answer that you want lovely, best of luck xx

Thanks for your replies! The GP was no help! Told me to wait and week and test again and then to call back if it's still positive. I am paying for an early scan this week so hopefully I will have some answers by the end of the week!

I had spotting and bleeding until I was about 13 weeks. Caused by a subchorionic haematoma. It was pretty heavy at times but often just a burst of blood and most of the time was light spotting red or brown. Drove me mad. Had an early scan at 7 weeks at EPU where they confirmed heartbeat and said it was a bleed in my uterus. It started the day after I tested positive. So it could be something like that but unfortunately only time will tell.
I’d test in a week and if still positive book a scan for 7/8 weeks which I know feels like eternity but you’ll have a good chance of seeing something if it’s there. Obviously if you have sudden heavy bleeding, strong pain etc then seek medical advice. Good luck!

I had spotting for around 5 days which I assume was implantation bleeding. It went from brown to red then back to brown but didn’t have any clots.

I had some bleeding again at 6 weeks and spoke to the GP. They said they don’t usually do scans until around 8 weeks as earlier than that can cause more worry when it’s difficult to see anything. They said if the bleeding wasn’t heavy and any cramping was mild, it can be fairly normal. I’m 20 weeks now and haven’t had any issues since.

Hope all works out okay for you!

Just to keep you all updated I ended up in hospital with an ectopic on my ovary! Had emergency surgery but am out now and resting.

Ah I’m so sorry to hear that. Take some time to heal your body and heart. Xx

Ummm21 · 15/08/2021 20:57

Sorry to hear that :( take it easy x

Hi all, it turned out it was an ectopic that had attached to my ovary! Unfortunately it ruptured and I am very lucky to still be here apparently. They managed to save my ovary and tubes and I found out last night that I am pregnant again, mixture of emotions - happy, excited, nervous, petrified! It's going to be a long wait to find out everything is ok!

Congratulations to you! I also had a ruptured ectopic, it wasn't picked up for days & I'm lucky to be here to tell the tale. I'm now 37 weeks pregnant, I was scanned early with spotting which terrified me obviously but thankfully everything is grand.

Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy 😊 x

Congratulations! I really wish you the best of luck with this pregnancy. I am absolutely fuming your GP fobbed you off like that. Your bleeding with tests getting stronger is alarming to me and ended up rupturing wow can't believe they told you to leave it a week!!!!Angry
