So on Thursday I had my first sweep (almost 2cm dilated and MW said went well)- I’m 40+1 and since my sweep been losing my plug with blood in it and also having cramping in my stomach and back - they kept waking me up last night and timing them they’re between 5-8 minutes lasting around a minute each.

Also TMI - I had to move my bowels 4/5 times last night as well 😳

Is this early labour and should I be phoning asking to be seen or will I wait to see how I go? It’s not excruciating pain and everyone keeps saying ‘if it’s labour you’ll know!’ So I don’t know what to do! Help

Yes it deffo sounds like the start of labour!
You can ring for peace of mind and so their aware but they'd ask you to stay at home for awhile yet.
Keep timing them, bouncing on your ball if you have one

You're deffo in labour! Ring and let them know, you'll probably have to stay at home for a little while until things really progress. Good luck!

It might be but you could also be a few days away from contractions properly beginning. You honestly will know once you are properly in labour. It’s why you usually get asked “is this your first baby” when you call the labour ward because there is no questioning it once you start proper contractions (and some women confuse BH for contractions). Either way, it won’t be long now. Good luck.
