Hi, I’m 24 weeks and completely freaking out. I’ve had symptoms for 2 days- starting Thursday morning when I started to feel burning when I peed. I had a urine sample done at a routine app and it was clear so I thought it was just one of those things- burning went away.

Then tonight I’ve noticed loads of yellow/ grey discharge. I looked up the symptoms and I am convinced it is BV. I am now completely freaking out as google is really scary on the subject of BV and fetal death etc. Anyone had this before and things were ok? Should I go to the hospital now or wait until the morning.

I realise I am probably overreacting but I have severe health (and particularly pregnancy related anxiety). Any advice hugely appreciated.

I did last pregnancy. They treated it with antibiotics. It was fine. I got it again right after the birth. They treated it with antibiotics. Never had it again. Child is nearly 4... Call Drs or midwife as soon as they open?

Thanks so much for replying @Tibbles988 ❤️. How soon after getting symptoms did you start treatment? Will go to the Pregnancy EAU in the morning

Please do not waste the EPU’s time when you can call the midwife or Dr. As PP has said you just need a course of antibiotics. It’s very common!

Uhh I Honestly couldn't tell you. It was picked up with a routine swab that my midwife did at around 6 months pregnant. I didn't know I had it.

I had it, picked up as part of a routine test when I was in the antenatal assessment unit for something else. I was 38 weeks. I took antibiotics and was still finishing the course when DS was born.

It didn't make a difference at all, I was still able to use the pool during labour, just had to remember to take my antibiotics into hospital with me along with all my other stuff.

I got the impression it's extremely common and easily managed - if you even have BV at all that is. The reputable links I can find on Google don't talk about a significant risk of fetal death caused by BV.

I had BV at 26 weeks pregnant they treated me on symptoms alone as they said it can cause problems in pregnancy if not treated. I was just given a cream which I applied once a day, really simple to use and cleared up within a few days no more problems!

Just to say it may not be BV. I've had yellowy/green discharge throughout almost all of my pregnancy. I had every swab and test known to man done as like you was very stressed it was an infection that could harm my baby but swabs have always come back negative so doctor's think it is just one of those pregnancy related things.

I'm 32 weeks now and baby developing fine, I have no signs of infection etc so have accepted it is part of my pregnancy.

I know it's easy to say but try not to panic. It can be dealt with whatever it is (or isn't in my case)

Thank you all SO much for taking the time to reply- it helps. I am slightly more rational this morning, despite having a horrible nightmare about pregnancy loss 😔.
I guess the thing I need to do is go get a swab.
You are right @LunaDreams - I was fully convinced last night that it was BV, but I guess it could be anything or nothing. Did you have any other symptoms with your weird discharge btw?

@Bizawit not feel bad, it's so hard to not worry when you have no idea what's going on in your own body. Just remember if it is an infection- it can be sorted. I had some swelling & slight tenderness down below, but again that is very normal in pregnancy anyway. I think BV is supposed to smell quite bad & mine never did. Speak to your MW tomorrow and they will probably swab you. X
