Placenta Previa

Hiya! I'm currently 25+5 weeks and I ended up having a bleed and was in hospital at 24+4 and diagnosed with complete placenta previa and possible accreta, I had an MRI and a specialist has to have a look at it! I've also got a bilobed placenta. I got discharged on Tuesday and put on bed/pelvic rest. They said that there is a high chance of another bleed and I just feel like a time bomb at the moment! I was just wondering, those of you who have had previa, did you bleed again? If so was it just twice? How often? And how long after the first bleed? Is it still possible for the placenta to move up?

I had placenta praevia and accreta and I first bled at 30 weeks. I was kept in for 3 weeks until the birth apart from one episode when I was briefly discharged only to bleed again a few days later. I did keep bleeding but they seemed to be just waiting for the 'big bleed' when they delivered (EMCS) at 33 weeks x

I had a complete grade 4 praevia for my son. I’ve no idea how but I didn’t have a single bleed. I’ve got another one this time but nothing so far but I’m early on

My bf had one and just had one huge bleed at 26 weeks and that was all. No more bleeding after that.

Good luck. Xx

@Defaultuser oh bless you! How was baby? And did you have to have a hysterectomy? As I was told with accreta they may have to. I'm hoping I don't have another bleed, the hospital that deals with babies under 30 weeks is an hour away! My local hospital which is 5 minutes away only deals with babies after 30 weeks. So hopefully no more bleeds until then or not at all 🤞 xx

@Cream123 oh wow you were very lucky then! How early are you? Hopefully the same will happen this time round for you. When did your bf deliver?

Thank you xx

@Kay256 no thankfully I didn't have to have a hysterectomy even though I lost a lot of blood during the birth. Baby is now a very healthy 3 year old touch wood! Was yours not diagnosed until your bleed? Must have been a very worrying time for you x

@Defaultuser oh that's good! Bless. And yep was diagnosed when I went to the hospital with a bleed, was very scary as I couldn't feel baby move either, but when they checked the heartbeat she was moving around a lot! Smile they didn't really explain what it was to me too so I had to find out from Google x

@Kay256 I can imagine it must have been terrifying. I kind of knew what to expect (and I was further on than you) but I was still very scared. I really hope you have a long uneventful bedrest and get as close to your due date as possible! Xxx
