Nursery chair... worth it?

I'm looking at starting the baby's nursery soon and wondering if people actually got use out of a chair?
If so, which are people's favourites?

Dd is 2 and we have used it every evening since she weaned at 1. She has her bottle, book and cuddle in the chair then off to bed. Brilliant second hand buy for 15 quid!!

You do want somewhere nice to sit but I found the IKEA poang too narrow to cuddle / read a story to a toddler. A small sofa or similar is great if there is space.

We bought an IKEA poang. Not once was it used to feed the baby! In fact it wasn't used at all until she went in her own room and was read a goodnight story

Just for a change of pace, we had the IKEA Strandmon. I did not like the aesthetic of the Poang. I think the Strandmon's arms are at a perfect height for breastfeeding. I fed in that chair for years.

depends on where you'd set it up.
I wouldn't have been able to use it in the living room to watch tv and it would've been pointless in our bedroom as I fed in bed at night.
and by the time they moved into their own bedroom they'd have formula as well that they drank by themselves so a feeding chair would've been a total waste of money as I never would've used it.

if you want to invest then get an electrica reclining armchair with integrated leg rest. they are awesome

IKEA poang for DD1, spare bed for DD2. Definitely want something more than the cot and the floor.

I loved my rocking lazy boy. I didn’t always feed in it but I loved rocking bubs to sleep or using it for cuddles when they were ill or had bad dreams.

My "nursery" was a box room with a cot and a chair. The chair was all we had, so yes, 100% worth it. The bigger and more squishy the better!!

Biscoffin · 06/08/2021 22:54

Another fan of the IKEA Strandmonn. We still use it every day now. We love that chair and will be buying another soon.

I don't know how people do a chill bedtime without a chair once they move into their own room. We still use ours for a book, milk and cuddles before bed and DD is nearly two. When she's poorly or wakes in the night we can sit in her room having a cuddle until she settles, and I sit in it to dry her in her towel after bathtime and get her jammies on. Just so useful!

We have the Elliot armchair from Marksies, (£189) with an old feeding pillow. I looked at the poang but her original room was the box room and I wanted something a bit smaller.

We have a two seater sofa that's a sofa bed in DDs nursery. It's been a godsend! I'm on it now with a poorly toddler!!

Shellfishblastard · 06/08/2021 23:23

Yes I used our chair a lot - we all did - even DH used it putting out DD’s to bed. We just got the IKEA chair though. Much cheaper than a nursing chair. We used the same chair for both DD’s.

I couldn’t have been without my chair.

Zelda93 · 06/08/2021 23:27

We got the IKEA chair use it loads we always sit and have a cuddle before she goes in her cot .. didn't use it till she was in her room so from 6mnths

SLT90 · 07/08/2021 11:21

Another one here for the ikea poang chair. We bought it around 6 or 7 months when DS went into his own room. Could not be without it. Obviously used to feed him in our bed but once he was in his own room I didn't fancy carrying him back and forth to our room multiple times a night. We do our bedtime stories in it (because I can't fit in his cot 😆) and at 16 months he still feeds 1-3 times a night so we have definitely got our moneys worth. I wrap us in a throw and doze during his feeds, it's really comfy!
