Growth Scan

Hi all

We went for a growth scan today as I was measuring slightly under at 31 weeks.

we went for a 3D private scan at 29 weeks and they said her femur length was measuring at 28 but today it was reported she was measuring at 27. I stupidly didn’t mention this as wasn’t sure how 3D scans are viewed.

I’ve worried myself so much now and the next scan isn’t for another 2 weeks’

Private scans and NHS ones rarely correlate; especially if the private one is 3D. Please don’t worry.

Use the NHS measurements and treat any private scans like extra glances, but nothing medical. The staff are usually qualified (and often the same people as in hospitals) but the measuring protocols and technology is different.

Baby won't have lost a cm in a few weeks, it's just likely that it was incorrect at the private scan. If your maternity team aren't worried, then I would stick with what they say. Are you seeing your community midwife before your next scan? If not, you can always ring her and have an additional check up. Don't sit at home fretting.
