No judgements here I am in 2 minds whether to have the vaccine - I am due December

I have! Did a lot of research and decided it was for the best.

MissChanandlerBong22 · 06/08/2021 15:58

Not yet. Went back and forth on it but I’ve now booked it for next week and feel good about my decision. Due in January.

mooloop · 06/08/2021 15:59

I had my first one at 24w, currently 28w and baby is wriggling and kicking away as usual Smile

Sunbird24 · 06/08/2021 16:00

Not yet, but I had my first dose after my most recent miscarriage and will have the second either as soon as I’m past 12 weeks or if I miscarry again.

Purplegrape23 · 06/08/2021 16:01

I did at 28 weeks and have this week got covid.

Luckily I am ok but was so relieved that I had been jabbed when I found out.

Due my second one at the end of the month and can’t wait to get

InTheNightWeWillWish · 06/08/2021 16:01

I’m also due in December. I had my first at 12 weeks and second at 21 weeks.

Greytminds · 06/08/2021 16:02

I had it (now double jabbed at 32 weeks) and I would urge anyone who is currently pregnant to do the same.

The recommendation to do so is much clearer now, there’s good advice and resources out there and the statistics around the impact of Covid on both mother and baby make the risks of being unvaccinated in pregnancy very clear. In the city I live in there have been 200 pregnant women a week admitted to hospital in recent weeks, with a worrying number of those being admitted to an ICU.

Starshapeddreams · 06/08/2021 16:06

I had my first jab before I was pregnant and had my second jab once in my second trimester as that was the guidance at the time.

Baby is kicking away, growing well and no other complications. I did loads of research and decided it was the right thing for me. My antenatal team are recommending everyone get it now.

Seasidesusy · 06/08/2021 16:10

I had my first dose when I was unknowingly about 2 weeks pregnant and my second yesterday at 14 weeks. I have been back and forth with it and done a lot of reading. The thing that ultimately made my decision was reading about women who have contracted Covid in the late stages of pregnancy and then had dreadful complications, emergency c-sections etc. I read about one woman who didn’t meet her child until he was 3 months old. Also I read a stat on here about 95%+ of hospitalised pregnant women being unvaccinated.
It was a tough decision and it didn’t sit completely comfortably with me but I’m happy with my choice.

ProtectMaternity · 06/08/2021 16:12

Really glad to see these responses- in maternity we are all so worried about pregnant women contracting Covid as the number of hospitalisations has increased in the last month and 1 in 10 need ICU. But those publicly encouraging vaccination are literally getting death threats

8dpwoah · 06/08/2021 16:25

Me! Didn't initially as the RCOG guidance was to wait, then when they said they were happy to change guidance to recommend it, so was I. Midwife and GP supportive. Think it helped that I had both of mine in second trimester which psychologically seems more palatable (not in crucial development, mum generally feeling okay so less impact of any side effects). Also helped that it coincided with them changing it to Pfizer only for my age group as I didn't have to try to find somewhere that I could avoid AZ (as per the guidance).

Sore arm both times but not as sore as my whooping cough booster which I'd only had a couple of years ago with DD. Was a bit tired the rest of the day after the first dose but didn't stop me doing anything and could easily have been a coincidence.

I took the view that I knew getting covid would be bad news and although I've been careful there's only so much you can do with a child at nursery and a partner working out of the home. I didn't think 'they' would recommend the vaccine if there was any real chance of it causing problems (the odd very very rare exception aside of course just like everything else in pregnancy) so on balance I went for it and as the cases have been going up I was very glad that I did.

However I also understand it's not for everyone, I just like to give my view and experience as I get how hard it is if you're not sure. The thing I'm worried about most now is picking up covid in the run up to labour and the implications that would have.

sociallydistained · 06/08/2021 16:33

I am officially fully vaccinated as of yesterday, 2 weeks after my second vaccination. Had my first at 3 weeks but I didn’t know I was pregnant. I am so greatful to be funny vaccinated now having seen the news and also having my brothers father in law dying of Covid, unvaccinated recently 😩

It is now recommended to get vaccinated at all stages of pregnancy. I wouldn’t want to be in the third trimester and catch Covid!

Italiandreams · 06/08/2021 16:36

Me, at 29 and 37 weeks.

AndSoFinally · 06/08/2021 16:37

I chose not to have it.

I'm a medic and had COVID not long before falling pregnant so would likely have had antibodies. Plus the NHS has been surprisingly protective over its pregnant staff, so felt the risk of being unvaccinated was relatively low.

I was always due to have a C Section so again, this added little to my risk assessment.

If I was only discovering now that I was pregnant I may have made a different decision with all we now know, but I'm not certain.

sakuramiyagi · 06/08/2021 16:52

I did a lot of research and agonised over the decision, but in the end went for my vaccine. My first was given at 19 weeks and I'm due my second in 2 weeks time.

Having read through all of the study data, I'm confident I've made the best decision for myself and my baby. The risk of giving birth in November during potentially another peak was just too much of a risk as someone with asthma.

CTR1000 · 06/08/2021 16:55

Me - first vaccine before I got pregnant and second in early pregnancy. I’m now 22 weeks and all going well so far.

I’m a respiratory doctor and growing more and more concerned about climbing admission rates in Covid +ve, unwell, unvaccinated pregnant woman in 3rd trimester. To me, in terms of risks vs benefits it seems like a bit of a no-brainer.

bakingdemon · 06/08/2021 16:58

17 weeks and had them both. Didn't hesitate.

kikisparks · 06/08/2021 17:04

Had both, first at 19 weeks second at 27 weeks a few days ago. All has been well so far.

stormelf · 06/08/2021 17:05

I had first at 13 weeks, currently got my second booked in for 24 weeks but may try get it moved to an earlier date

Arghlife · 06/08/2021 17:08

I've had my first one, also due in December.

honeybeesknees · 06/08/2021 17:11

I have had both, and regular scans on my baby (for other reasons) are showing perfectly normal development, and I feel very confident that I made the right choice. I don’t want to hide away for my pregnancy, and I hope that my baby will be born with some antibodies too, and will be much less vulnerable.

kitten789 · 06/08/2021 17:18

Due in December and had my first dose last week. I had been undecided for ages but I did some research and now comfortable with my decision.

Confused521 · 06/08/2021 17:19

I have chosen not to have it. I likely still have antibodies from two prior infections so comfortable with not getting it for now.

bongbigboobingbongbing · 06/08/2021 17:26

I had the first jab just before I got pregnant and will have the second one after my 12 week scan. I decided that on balance the known risk of Covid was more dangerous for the baby than the unknown risk of the vaccine. You are three times as likely to have a miscarriage or premature birth with Covid, according to the data I saw.

Pinkgrapefruit4 · 06/08/2021 17:26

Me at 22 & 31 weeks.
