No judgements here I am in 2 minds whether to have the vaccine - I am due December

Thank-you for the advice I think it is just nerves getting to me! I think by the time I’m vaccinated and they have kicked in she would hopefully be here so maybe best to wait till she arrives first but I am definitely taking precautions!

Hummingbird80 · 23/08/2021 23:12

I had my second Covid jab at around 6 weeks and all good

Ofpalestsilver · 24/08/2021 22:16

I had my first while TTC and the next around 8 weeks. I deliberated whether to have th second one during first or second trimester but decided I wanted to go ahead and I’m glad I did. I still plan on being a recluse during my third trimester as I have asthma and am prone to pneumonia.

BabyC21 · 24/08/2021 22:35

I had mine at 22 and 26 weeks and baby is now 2 and a half weeks old and perfect in every way 💙

Perpop · 24/08/2021 23:03

36+3, had my first 4 weeks ago and felt fine. Was a long decision with a lot of research (actual research, not Facebook) and decided it was best for me. I felt relieved after. Had midwife appt and she made a good point.. if you get covid and they’ve to pump you with drugs to save your life then these drugs are unlikely to be tested on unborn babies.. where as the vaccine so far is showing safe for mums & babies. But it’s absolutely your decision and you can only make it by weighing things up for yourself and your situation!

LunaDreams · 25/08/2021 08:52

Like PP I decided to go for it after doing lots of research and thinking through pros and cons.

Had 1st dose at 26 weeks- slightly nauseous & sore arm

2nd dose at 34 weeks- ended up being admitted to hospital for 24 hours as bad response to it but both myself and baby stabilised quickly and all seems fine now.

Although it was scary I still 100% made the right choice as it just made me realise how much worse things would have been had it been actual Covid.

Yes, double jabbed at 28 weeks. All of the official guidance (not social media!) points to it being the best decision for baby and me.

@Chlo1999, not too late to at least get one dose to better protect you and the baby before delivery and to pass on antibodies to the baby. If pregnant (and/or under 40), you will only be offered pfizer or moderna as the oxford hasn't been used in pregnant women elsewhere and is not recommended under 40.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 25/08/2021 12:10

First dose at 19 weeks, second at 27. Now 33 weeks, had a scan since and all is good so far Smile just had an achey arm both times for a day or so.

I got my first vaccine a couple of weeks ago, I did looottts of research and as someone who works on the front line with lots of people (housing officer) I decided to go for it. It was a difficult decision but I spoke to numerous professionals about it, including family members who have worked on the front line in hospitals and they have told me that the risk for pregnant women who catch COVID is far higher, the amount of still births and premature births endured is horrific. This swayed it for me . I would encourage anyone else to get the vaccine too.

Hyppogriff · 29/08/2021 13:52

Hopefully everyone. Get the jab

Ednadidit · 29/08/2021 14:20

I was double jabbed at 28 weeks and so, so grateful that I was because I caught Covid at 31 weeks. My symptoms have been mild and everything seems ok. I’m on day 7 and getting better. Thankful that I was three weeks post-second jab.

I had my first jab at 17 weeks and second at 25 weeks, due 1st week of October. Did lots of research.

Had9 · 01/09/2021 19:17

Ive had covid twice now, first time was in a March 2020 and then July this year while being pregnant.
I’m now 15 weeks and just had my first vaccination today! I was very nervous but thought it was the best thing to do.

SouthwestSis · 01/09/2021 19:21

Well done @Had9! Definitely the right thing to do.

Bettypea6 · 06/09/2021 01:15

I’m 16 and 22 weeks pregnant and unsure weather to get the COVID vaccine anyone else like me please

SouthwestSis · 06/09/2021 02:35

Is there any reason you can think of not to have the vaccine @Bettypea6 ?
I would definitely try and get some protection before your 3rd trimester so 28 weeks and having 1 jab would at least give you partial protection

Georgewontsleepnow · 06/09/2021 02:39

I'm due in December and was vaccinated at 12 & 20 weeks. I was in close covid contact last week and had a negative pcr, so pleased it's helped already.

Gatkinson84 · 18/09/2021 18:58

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice until I see my midwife. I have just found out I'm pregnant with my second child. I am 37 years old and overweight and I had my first vaccine in march. I was due my second one around the time my sister passed away suddenly in may so prosponed it. I then contracted covid in late June and despite having the vaccine I still had moderate illness for 3 weeks. My question is should I get the vaccine and also when is it best to get it. I heard that some wait until 12 weeks to be safe but then I worry about waiting that long incase I contract covid again as my daughter is of school age. Any advice would be really appreciated

I took my second shot of covid vaccine when I was 3-4 weeks pregnant. The fist dose was before I became pregnant. Now I am spotting I think I am having a miscarriage. I suspect that taking the vaccine very early in my pregnancy might have contributed to this. Have anyone experienced something similar to this before?

I'm sorry to hear that you think you're miscarrying but the evidence is that the covid vaccine does not increase risk of miscarriage. Your suspicions are unfounded. Approximately 1 in 4 women have a miscarriage for no reason.
Hotcrossbunsinbed · 16/10/2021 11:11

I am so sorry to hear that. I had just conceived when so had my first jab. I then had a miscarriage almost immediately afterwards. Luckily I got pregnant again the next month. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and have delayed the second jab as a result. I am going to get it just before the 20 week scan. I am so sorry to hear that you are bleeding. Sending my love

I had the vaccine in the morning at 8 weeks and a scan in the afternoon which confirmed my pregnancy hadn't progressed past 6 weeks. The MC was nothing to do with the vaccine. I hope you're doing OK.
Trinacham · 16/10/2021 12:11

I have chosen not to. I don't think there is a right and wrong. Most people who'll get the vaccine will be fine, most who get covid will also be fine. I have had covid, at 17 weeks pregnant. I had it very mildy and didn't feel poorly at all, I basically had a runny nose.. that was it. Had I not caught it, I may have chosen to have the vaccine, as I was in two minds then. Now I'll have natural immunity for a good few months, I've decided I'll wait until after the birth. I don't judge anyone on their own choice so I don't care for people trying to tell me to get it (which seems to happen a lot on MN!).

JanetRobertaSnakehole · 16/10/2021 12:17

I had my first one before I was pregnant and the second when I was 13 weeks. Have had two scans since and all is fine with baby.

I know its a hard decision to make. I personally know two women who were hospitalised with covid in their 3rd trimester, and their babies delivered by EMCS. So for me, I could see the real risks of covid during pregnancy.
