Who's had the covid vaccine in pregnancy?

No judgements here I am in 2 minds whether to have the vaccine - I am due December

OP posts:
Isacari · 17/10/2021 06:53

I was forced to get vaccinated (I work for the NYC DOE) and was 7 weeks pregnant. I just found out at 9 weeks (2 weeks later) that I’m miscarrying. This is so devastating for me and I won’t ever know if my fetus actually had a negative reaction to the vaccine or the placenta was affected. I can’t get over these thoughts.

timeisnotaline · 17/10/2021 07:16

Me, I’m 21 weeks and due my second shot in four weeks. I hope some of the protection transfers to baby too. I’m in oz, and being pretty careful until two weeks after I’m double vaccinated. The statistics are growing on how dangerous it is to catch COVID when pregnant and unvaccinated and i really really don’t want that to happen to me or my baby.

timeisnotaline · 17/10/2021 07:22

I’m very sorry @MommyOfThreeSweethearts @Isacari. If you’ve been on the pregnancy boards you’d know how common miscarriage is for all women. The evidence says the vaccine doesn’t affect this at all, please don’t think there’s something you could have done (or not done) and feel worse, as the truth is there’s absolutely nothing you could have done about it, it’s 100% not your fault and I hope no-one near to you dare suggest this. These things happen FlowersFlowers

MommyOfThreeSweethearts · 17/10/2021 16:31

It is official, I miscarried. Exactly 2 weeks after my second dose. Not sure what to make of this but is it really a coincidence with @Isacari's case? Perhaps it is not okay to take the vaccine in the early stages of pregnancy? May be there is not enough research around this topic to completely dismiss the possibility the vaccine causing a miscarriage @timeisnotaline? I have never had a miscarriage all my life and this is really strange and I am very hurt by this.

Derbee · 18/10/2021 01:13

@MommyOfThreeSweethearts it completely believable that it’s purely a coincidence. Unfortunately miscarriage is very common, although that doesn’t make it less upsetting. I had my second dose at 5 weeks pregnant, and everything was fine.

1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, and of the women who know they’re pregnant, it’s 1 in 7.

EgweneWoT · 18/10/2021 23:26

Had both in pregnancy. Did my research and decided it was for the best. Glad I did.

Shazizo2 · 09/11/2021 23:12

Hi everyone

Iam not here to scare anyone but from to say it’s personal choice and God’s protection.

I had Pfizer in 17 July at 16 weeks after midwife recommended that it will protect me and the baby but my baby’s heart had stopped by 21st July.It might not have been the course but just to highlight it

On the other hand some women who haven’t had the vaccines have ended up in ventilators in their 3rd trimester due to COVID and resulting in fatality in others.It can work both ways.

I can speak based on my experience that people are different and so when making decision make as an individual not based on another person’s experience.

All the best to everyone and God protect you and cover you.

Singleorigincoffee · 10/11/2021 12:51

I had one at 5 weeks pregnant and one at 17 weeks. I'm due in Jan. I've never had covid, shielded through most of covid as was furloughed before pregnancy and then WFH permanently from Jan this year and I read that the antibodies will be passed over, better to get it in safe vaccine form then actually from covid..was my thoughts. Didn't have any side effects either

Had the Pfizer which was advertised as the best for pregnant women and told to rest up as per usual medical advice after shot.

Pompom2367 · 10/11/2021 12:53

I'm due in December had them both early on in pregnancy

Tulipmonster · 10/11/2021 13:01

I wasn’t initially planning to as I already had antibodies from having covid last November (I’m part of the ONS random sample so get tested for antibodies every now and again). But then cases started rising again from Delta and I read up on the risks of covid late in pregnancy and decided I’d feel safer if I got vaccinated - had both shots in the second trimester. My baby is here now and I was glad throughout the second part of my pregnancy that I’d made the decision I did.

Tulipmonster · 10/11/2021 13:02

@Shazizo2 I’m so sorry for your loss Flowers

SouthwestSis · 10/11/2021 13:29

I'm 29 weeks and had my booster 2 weeks ago (I'm an NHS worker).
Had my first 2 vaccines in the few months prior to falling pregnant.

Have seen far too many unwell and unvaccinated pregnant ladies in hospital with horrible complications for them and their babies to not take up every covid vaccine offered to me!

Shazizo2 · 10/11/2021 13:59

Thank you🙏

mrscotton · 10/11/2021 14:23

I had my first dose before i realised I was pregnant, would have only been 2-3 weeks then had my second when I was about 11 weeks. Had no reaction and baby is fine, i am now 23 weeks. Had worst reaction to my flu jab.

Ameteurmum · 11/11/2021 10:17

I did. Due in December and am worried about complications if I catch it in my third trimester. I waited until around 20 weeks and spoke to my consultant at length about it first. Aside from an achy arm I felt fine after both doses. All we can do is what we think is best for us and our children at the time with the information we have

Lollystardamsel · 12/12/2021 09:43

This was my case in April, 2 weeks after my first jab, I went in for 2 scan sessions at five weeks pregnant and there was no heart beat or growth that indicated I was 5weeks gone. Then a miscarriage happened few days later. All these happened 2 weeks after I got my first jab without knowing I was pregnant. Same thing happened to my sister in Australia

SoloMumtobe · 03/01/2022 01:27

Hi all,
Interested to hear people's experiences getting the pfizer vax when pregnant. I am almost 14 weeks.

SoloMumtobe · 03/01/2022 01:36

@MommyOfThreeSweethearts
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Do you mind if I ask in which week of pregnancy you had the vaccine?

SoloMumtobe · 03/01/2022 01:44

@Shazizo2
I am so very sorry to hear about your pregnancy loss. That must have been extremely difficult. Was there ever any clarification about what happened? When did you last hear the heartbeat before getting your vaccine?

Thank you so much and so sorry again.

Chaan.

Shazizo2 · 03/01/2022 08:33

@Chaan thanks for your message dear, we are healed and moved forward now.

I had mid-wife appointment on 14/7 where we heard the heartbeat, vaccine on 17/7 , pre-booked gender scan on 21/7 and told heart beat stopped in the last 3-4 days ago. Not sure if coincidence.

Results said there was amniotic band ( you can google about this) was on our baby’s leg but couldn’t relate loss of heartbeat to that. If which we could see relationship as well. They won’t mention anything close to vaxx anyway if it was so weren’t expecting them to mention.

I have heard my second and now on the road to trying fingers crosssed.

Shazizo2 · 03/01/2022 08:34

I meant we could not see the link between amniotic band on the leg and loss of baby’s heart beat.

Shazizo2 · 03/01/2022 08:39

@solomumtobe

I was 16 weeks, just to say its seems people are different. I have heard some have heard as early as below 12 weeks and we’re fine but I can say for themselves.

It’s honest person decision and it is really difficult. Hope you do more research and seek for guidance . Let no one push you it or try to justify why you should, try to make your own decision people hearing other people’s views.

DSGR · 03/01/2022 08:41

I’ve had it. Don’t want to risk being in ICU?!

GeorgiePorge · 03/01/2022 08:51

@sarahin2021

Me! I was there like a shot to have mine the first chance I had. Only side effect was being a bit tired after the first. I'm now cuddling my perfect baby and so glad my chances of being seriously ill are reduced.
this

both jabs whilst pregnant... was so relieved when they changed guidance so I could get them. the risk of covid whilst pregnant is very real and serious

had booster whilst breast feeding.
Babs is 3 months old and doing great.

Ikeabag · 03/01/2022 10:05

Friend who is a doctor has had both and a booster. She's 8m now. I don't know timings but booster def while preg, probably 2nd dose also. She was really pissed off when boosters weren't available to preg women as they're more vulnerable by definition and need protecting.
