Went to A&E due to black outs and doctor assessed my abdomen

Hi,

I had a few occurances of black outs in the morning when I wake up and MW said go to A&E to get it checked.

Whilst at A&E they did the usual blood pressure and blood tests to check for iron and diabetes- which all came back fine.

The doctor also assessed my abdomen with a sthescope. She said the baby is doing fine. Is it possible to hear a feotal heart beat with a sthescope at 13w2days?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Presumably if s/he told you that. Maybe contact your GP and ask for some further tests to investigate the cause of the blackouts.

The doctor at A&E said that it's common. Even performed ECG and that was fine also.

I was just curious about hearing the heartbeat at 13w

@Helpdesk3

They did mention I have low blood pressure
Ah okay. Well that will definitely be the cause then. I thought you’d meant blood pressure was normal. I had low blood pressure and fainted in pregnancy several times. It’s a pain, you have my sympathy.

I don’t know about hearing a heart beat but seems likely especially if you’re fairly slim.

It is possible, yes.

Poppyloppyloo · 07/08/2021 00:50

I went to a&e with fainting during my pregnancy they did similar tests and was also low blood pressure for me.

They didn’t do any checks on the baby when I went in so I wouldn’t be worried about that.

They can definitely hear heartbeat with an ultrasound or doppler at 13 weeks so I don’t see why they couldn’t with a stethoscope.

TheVanguardSix · 07/08/2021 00:54

Yes. DH is a GP and used to sometimes use the stethoscope to listen to the babies' heartbeats during my own pregnancies. 13 weeks is a little early to be relying on a stethoscope. But she told you it was fine so obviously, she heard it, which is reassuring.

Do you think the doctor was pretending?

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 07/08/2021 01:02

Did you know you were pregnant? I hope it’s good news?

Helpdesk3 · 07/08/2021 11:46

Thank you all for your replies.

@Shitfuckcommaetc I just could not believe that was possible
