Keep active or rest?

Every time I speak to a midwife, health professional or really just anyone they all either say 'keep yourself active' or 'just rest now' I am 38 weeks today, which one am I supposed to be doing!

I'm definitely resting more than keeping active, I'm struggling to do a lot of every day things like housework and shopping. I find myself sitting down with a cup of tea and falling asleep. Should I be trying to be more active? Am I preventing labour from coming by being lazy? Maybe I should be pulling myself together and going for a little walk every day I don't know.

I just know my body hurts, it's exhausted and i am so ready for this to be over now.

There's nothing wrong with resting, if you sit down and fall asleep it's because your tired.
I'd make the most of all the rest you can this side as you won't get much soon!
When they say keep active I think they just mean in general terms, don't sit down/ stay in bed all day. Keep doing your normal day to day stuff 😁 but listen to your body if you need a rest, have one

A bit of a mix I think. Do what needs to be done but dedicated exercise only if you feel up to it.

I am 38+3wk now and a lot less active than usual. I stopped gym sessions before 36wk as baby got so low it just wasn't comfortable to lift so heavy anymore. Been to the supermarket with our 4 youngest and my hips and bump felt so uncomfortable when I got out of the car once home I could only manage fairy steps lol. Put all that away and ready for a nap. I have been getting my ducks in a row around the house jobs wise as I'm booked in for elcs on Tuesday but I need to rest between jobs. I think not sleeping well in the last trimester reduces self motivation, our baby being on the huge side doesn't help either. Only a few weeks ago I could still do squats with a 40kg barbell on my back and now I need to use my arms to help me get up off the sofa, I feel so unfit and uncomfortable atm and can't wait for this baby to be out now.
