I bought Sainsbury’s own brand pregnancy tests and both in the pack came back as positive. I’ve been reading about how many false positives they give though. The positive plus sign came up pretty instantly when I thought it’d take at least a minute which makes me think it’s maybe not true? I’m going to try buy a different brand tomorrow but obviously that doesn’t help my stressing right now!

My period is 4 days late so far.

@confusedalways
Norm with in 5 mins but try and get yourself a frer test, is there colour to the second line.

NannyPear · 04/08/2021 20:47

At 4 days late you likely just have enough HCG in your urine for a very fast result.

confusedalways · 04/08/2021 20:48

What’s an frer test? I’m a bit clueless sorry! The horizontal line is dark blue and the vertical one more of a light blue but both thick lined.

I got a positive on a Sainsbury's test. Can't remember how long it took but it must have been right as I have my 20 week scan tomorrow 😃 I too read all the bad reviews so tried a couple of other brands after but it was fine. I think people are more likely to post negative reviews about tests than positive ones. Good luck 🤞

@confusedalways
First response early response test they r the most sensitive test but if the test line is the same colour as the control line its more than likely a positive.

confusedalways · 04/08/2021 21:53

Ah okay thanks! I’ll definitely try and find a first response test tomorrow

At 4 days late it will come up fast. Almost certainly positive.

Cap89 · 04/08/2021 22:39

When I tested after my period, the line came up immediately. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a positive.

confusedalways · 05/08/2021 07:02

So hard not to get carried away isn’t it I barely slept last night thinking about it. Going to be a long day until I get home from work tonight with a new test!

At 4 days late, you don’t need a FRER. Those work best if you’re testing before you’re due your period. After your period, any test should pick up the hormone and it should pick it up quiet quickly. Mine, on 3 different brands, all came up under a minute. It just means that you body has produced enough hormone to produce the test quickly. At 4 days late and the positive on the Sainsbury’s one, I’d probably opt for a digital which tells you how many weeks you are.

confusedalways · 05/08/2021 07:53

Ah gotcha thanks! There’s not many shops around so fingers crossed one of them has the right kind!

Ended up paying an extortionate £17 for 2 clear blue digital week ones in the chemists. Couldn’t wait so did it in the toilets at work and came back as 1-2 weeks

Super shocked as we weren’t planning on a baby but I’ve been reading how the Covid jabs have affected cycles so I’m thinking maybe my ovulation tracking was off.

Is it a happy surprise with congratulations in order?

The clear blue ones are expensive but they do eliminate all questions about whether it is or isn’t. DH wouldn’t believe two non-digital pregnancy tests, even with clear lines. No denying what the clear blue says though!

confusedalways · 05/08/2021 13:04

I’m not sure really. Ideally we’d have waited another year I think. My DH is at his parents with his dad as he’s very sick and not got long left now. It doesn’t really seem like news to say over the phone so I’m feeling a bit lost and alone.

I’m sorry about your FIL Flowers

See how things go. If DH has some alone time, maybe let him know. If he’s excited, you can possibly do a little thing for when he gets back. If you decide to continue with the pregnancy, it might help everyone with something positive to focus on Flowers

thebookworm1 · 05/08/2021 18:18

I used clear blue and 6 months later, the positive is still showing strong 😀 I found it in the cupboard yesterday.

thebookworm1 · 05/08/2021 18:20

Ps: sorry I didn’t read your update. I’m so sorry your DH isn’t around. What a tough situation.

confusedalways · 06/08/2021 08:14

My DH actually ended up popping back yesterday for just the night. What are the chances! Glad to have shared the news in real life he lasted approximately 5 minutes before calling his mum to tell her. Grin I’m hoping this might be a positive light to help them through a difficult time!
