Any recommendations for the Iona test in the North West? What did you think of the test?

I'm hoping to get the Iona test at 10 weeks gestation (currently 7.5 weeks) since it seems to have the fastest turnaround time of the NIPT tests. But I'm not sure where to go - I actually live between Chester and Wrexham but I can't find any providers in those towns. The closest places that do the test seem to be in the Manchester area. Has anyone got any recommendations? I don't mind travelling to Manchester or Liverpool etc if needed.

Also anyone who has had the Iona, I'd appreciate knowing what you thought of it - how long did it take to get your results? Did you decide to pay extra to test for Turners Syndrome, Trisomy X, Klinefelter etc ?

I had Iona in Manchester and it was a positive experience. Heard the results were fastest as local lab or something?

After some traumatic losses I needed early reassurance. Saw the baby on a scan, had clear results and found his sex out all at ten weeks.

Worth every penny.

Can’t remember time frame exactly but it was certainly under a week.

Thanks very much @LividLaVidaLoca. Do you mind sharing whereabouts in Manchester you went? There seem to be a lot of choices there!

It was My Baby Company on Barlow Moor Road.

Thank you @LividLaVidaLoca - they were one of the companies I was looking at.

Just in case anyone is checking my old threads, I thought I'd update. After a lot of indecisiveness on my part, in the end I decided to have a Nipt test at My Baby Company in Chorlton, Manchester. Thanks to @LividLaVidaLoca for the recommendation.

The sonographer Abbie was wonderful, really reassuring and patient waiting for my baby to turn around and show his profile for the photo - as he was determined to face away! She then rang with the Iona results in an amazing 2 days (the official paperwork is sent by email as well). I'm so relieved as I'm 40 and this is my first/likely only baby after years of IUI's and IVF's Grin.

I'm trying not to get too excited till he's here safely but I hope this helps anyone in the same position I was.

Oh @IamnotwhouthinkIam this is brilliant news!

So glad my recommendation worked out.

I’ll never forget getting The Call while I was at work and crying “he’s a healthy boy!” over and over at my workmate who knew the situation.

Best of luck for the coming months x

@LividLaVidaLoca - Thanks, I'm very grateful for the rec and really glad everything worked out with your little boy too. I feel I can relax a bit now - and assuming the 12 week NHS scan is fine too, maybe I'll finally feel safe enough to tell people in RL that I'm pregnant!
