This is DC2 and I had no problems with DC1 other than low birth weight.
This time I’ve been diagnosed with low iron and put on iron tablets but 2 weeks later and I’m still wiped out to the point I can’t really be bothered to do anything. Even getting dressed is an effort and I’m out of breath constantly. I can barely think without a nap followed by bed by 8pm which isn’t like me at all.
Has anyone got any ideas to try and get some energy back Sad surely I can’t feel like this for 10 more weeks?

Also those who are at a similar point. How strong are your movements? Mine was almost bursting out at one point but seems to have moved and they are more ‘muffled’ for want of a better word. Baby still moving regularly though so midwife isn’t concerned. So as long as it’s moving it’s fine no matter the strength is that right? It’s been a long time since I did this and I’ve forgotten everything!

@GSD20 I am 29 weeks and I could have written this myself, I am so exhausted and lethargic. Had iron check yesterday but haven't heard about the results so I'm guessing must be ok! Also in regards to movement yesterday it felt like baby was trying to get out through my skin. Today not so much but I'm not concerned as I'm still feeling plenty of movement! Hope your iron tablets start to help soon.

Can sometimes take a month for your iron stores to be replenished to keep at it and eat plenty steaks and spinach!

As with movement, if you've been checked over thats great and all is well, you should always get checked asap with any concerns. It may be baby hiding behind your placenta which is why they're muffled!

Can you try something like spartone or other liquid irons - i was led to believe they can act quicker. Also try and increase vitamin C update or take with orange juice as that helps the iron absorption.

Thanks all of you!

Can I take iron supplements on top of iron?
I’m already taking twice daily prescribed tablets plus pregnacare plus.
I’m trying to eat better but currently don’t have a kitchen which isn’t helping matters Blush

For example today I have managed to walk 15mins and bring in my washing to the dining table. Since then I’ve slept and lay around feeling totally drained and not moved much since. Poor DS is spending all of his day on the iPad.

Baby is moving just not as strongly as before. Last week she must have been at the front as my whole stomach was rippling but today the movements are very low down and not as strong. At the last scan she was head down so maybe she’s flipped!
I’m regularly being scanned for placental issues so only was scanned last week but I’ll ring my midwife tomorrow for an extra check I think!

Yes you can never have too many checks.

I don't think you'll be able to take any more iron than what you're on. Too much and you can become really unwell. Try not to feel guilty, if you need to rest, you need to rest. I am 37 weeks, and am really getting tired now and my daughter has watched TV today 2pm until 6pm, with the odd play with her toys, it's not nice but it's not forever. You can do this! Pregnancy is hard!!!
