When did you first feel movements?

Currently 19 weeks, haven’t felt anything yet and I’m not worried or anything, we seen him on a private scan not too long ago he was moving around!

But I’m just really excited to feel him move and I keep putting my hand on my tummy to see if I can feel anything

When did you first feel your baby move? He’s my first :) is it normal to be this far along and not felt movements yet?

Really early with my first about 15 weeks and about 18 weeks with my second.

boymumma12 · 03/08/2021 21:47

Just to add, I’ve felt what feels like a pulse a few times when I’ve put my hand On my lower belly but unsure wether that’s just me imagining or if it can feel like that?

I think it depends a lot on the position of the placenta and I'm very slim which might also have been why. I could actually see movement with my first at about 16 weeks!

girlmama32 · 03/08/2021 22:02

I felt like tiny butterflies around 16 weeks then proper movements/kicks around 19/20 weeks. It defo depends on where baby is sitting and where your placenta is though

JackJack84 · 03/08/2021 22:07

Flutters at 17 weeks then kicks from almost 19 weeks with posterior placenta.

shivawn · 03/08/2021 22:26

Tiny movements under my belly button at 18 weeks, kind of like slight little muscle twitches, I only really felt them lying in bed at night. They were easy to miss they were so slight but gradually kept getting stronger. At 24 weeks they were strong enough for my husband to feel.

penguin7 · 03/08/2021 22:45

I'm now 32 weeks with my first and I wrote a similar post to you at the time. I made notes in my phone and I think I can say I definitely started to feel movement around 22 weeks.
Movements are now much more frequent and noticeable.

Pix89 · 04/08/2021 08:26

Definite movements at 22. What might have been movements at 19

chippedchocolate · 04/08/2021 08:29

Coming up 23w with DC3, posterior placenta and have only just really started to feel movement - youngest DC9 felt tiny movements externally, as did OH, on Sunday for first time.

boymumma12 · 04/08/2021 08:46

I guess I should ask wether my placenta is anterior or posterior! As this hasn’t been mentioned but could be why I’m not feeling things maybe

But thank you for your responses :) it looks like 20 weeks for definite feeling so hopefully the little guy starts wriggling around and making it obvious! Aha

You should be feeling flutters. Those can feeling like your own muscles twitching. I think i was 4 months / 2nd trimester before I saw and felt a big noticeable kick.

zeromango · 04/08/2021 09:12

First DC not until 24 weeks (anterior placenta) but with my little boy I starts feeling him at 15/15 weeks daily. Then I couldn't feel him anymore! Midwife found his heartbeat on the Doppler but I'm now 18w2d and only feeling the odd twitch here and there (And it might not even be baby as they're so light)

Hoping to start feeling him soon Smile

boymumma12 · 04/08/2021 09:59

@codingmom I haven’t been feeling flutters, is this normal? That I’ve noticed anyway

Mariex1989 · 04/08/2021 11:01

The pulse like feeling you described could be small movements. I had what I can only describe as like an eye twitch in my belly at 16 weeks. I mentioned it to the midwife and she said it will be movements!
Started getting stronger/definite kicks at about 19/20 weeks. Now 24 weeks and she is definitely using my body as a kicking/punching bag 😂.
Just remember everyone is different and try not to get concerned if it’s not as early as some people. My friend recently had a baby and didn’t feel her move until about 21 weeks xx

romdowa · 04/08/2021 11:02

At 17 weeks I started feeling little bubbles and I'm now 26 weeks and I feel some proper thumps lol. My placenta is to the back though and baby lies forward a lot

That statement is completely incorrect, please don’t let yourself be worried.

I’m 19+4 and haven’t felt anything! Baby is happy, healthy and moving around (a lot!). There is no concern from the midwife or any medical professional that I’ve spoken to.

shivawn · 04/08/2021 15:17

Agreed, we are all different. My midwife just told me to let them know if I hadn't felt anything by 24 weeks. I remember watching my baby do a half somersault at a 20 week scan and yet I felt absolutely nothing at the time.

God you can tell I'm pregnant.

Anterior placenta. Right over the entirety of my bump and quite thick in places. Creating a buffer so haven't even been feeling noticeable flitters (or even flutters) until this week really....

Yes - I totally agree - we all remarked on the amount of movement inside at 20w scan and I couldn't feel a thing!!

DizzySquirrel90 · 04/08/2021 15:36

Anterior placenta here - slim build. Didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks.

Kinsters · 04/08/2021 17:12

First baby, anterior placenta I didnt feel anything definite until about 20 weeks. Second baby, posterior placenta and I felt little bubbles from 12 weeks. You might be feeling small movements even if your placenta is anterior but with your first it's so easy to mistake the feeling for gas or whatever as you don't know what you're looking out for.

queenie273646 · 04/08/2021 17:13

My first baby was 24 weeks
