Hi all, been on this site for a few days now and find the information so helpful I decided to sign up! I’m currently 9 + 2, had a reassurance scan last week due to previous miscarriage, all was good seen the heart beat and it was wriggling away at 8 weeks. Last night I went to the toilet and when I wiped it was bright red blood also down the pan as well, every time after that the blood would pour out when I sat on the pan (sorry TMI) phoned EPU this morning and getting a scan tomorrow however I’m now getting dark red clots when I pee now I fear this is another miscarriage which I know you can’t prevent but just possibly looking for some success stories with kinda same scenario as me … will worry until my scan tomorrow but seeing the miscarriage rate drop a lot after seeing a heart beat gives me a little bit of hope. Thank you all for reading Smile

Sorry to hear this. I've had bleeding in pregnancy but not this much. Hope that it is a positive outcome for you x

Mon2468 · 03/08/2021 22:58

Thank you. Don't have much hope tbh x

@Mon2468 I've not got personal experience of this, but my mum had several heavy bleeds during a successful pregnancy many years ago. I think it's unusual but I'm living proof that unusual things can happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow.

Mon2468 · 03/08/2021 23:08

Thank you @Scirocco fingers crossed

Hi OP. I'm sorry but when I've experienced this (twice), it's not been good news.
I really really hope it's different for you. I know you must be feeling incredibly worried. Thanks

haidri · 03/08/2021 23:39

@Mon2468 I do know that bleeding is normal and usually a sign of old blood, but when it comes to clotting — it's often bad news.

I personally was told I wasn't miscarrying back when I was bleeding, but when I went into EPU telling them I had clotting, they directly told me I'm 90% miscarrying.

Three days later I was actively experiencing all the worse things!

I hope yours is a miracle & you come back here to tell us good news about your scan! 🌹

Mon2468 · 03/08/2021 23:58

@Glitterandunicorns and @haidri thank you both for replying. I think I know myself what it is but everyone keeps saying be positive (easy for them to say when it's not happening to them) .. I will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Thanks again Blush

Hey @Mon2468 … didn’t want to read and run. I haven’t personally experienced clots (only the bleeding) which was unfortunately a MMC. However I am a MN serial reader and have probably read every single thread on here, from those I would say it could go either way.
But let us know how you get on today and sending you hugs 💐

Mon2468 · 04/08/2021 12:44

@AlwaysSeekingComfort hi, thanks for your kind words. I had my scan this morning and baby still there with heart beat, said everything looks normal and that it could have been a hematoma? So will try relax now and hope nothing more happens. Thanks again HmmSmile

Two healthy babies after weeks of bleeding with big clots bigger than the embryo at that point, so it can work out in the end. Unfortunately there’s no way to tell which way it’s going to go.

AlwaysSeekingComfort · 04/08/2021 12:52

@Mon2468 congrats!!! So pleased for you that it was good news! Take care x

Mon2468 · 04/08/2021 12:56

@3womeninaboat hi, thanks for your comment. Did they say what caused your bleeding? I had scan this morning and everything was fine so fingers crossed

Congrats OP!

At nine weeks (following two previous scans) I had a lot of bleeding - i also felt a blood clot fall out - it looked like a kidney about the size of my palm and I honestly thought it was the baby. I was devastated. I had to wait four days for a scan.

I completely know that it's a scary time and a lot of people have had absolutely tragic outcomes but my outcome was good. She's nearly 11 months and trying to grab my phone as I type.

I remember the night it happened, I was in the bath sobbing and googling stories like this. Oh - the sonographer warned me that I had a small pocket of blood so may bleed some more but it had gone by my 12 week scan.

miracle2022 · 04/08/2021 14:11

Hi all - I had this last week at 9 weeks. Felt some leaking so went to the loo thinking it's just discharge or pee (weak bladder!) but saw bright blood and then more came out when I peed and then a clot a little smaller than my fist came out. I thought it was the baby and was was shaking not knowing what to do as only the week before was everything confirmed as OK when I went for a reassurance scan. I went to EPU the following morning as I was convinced it was another MC (had first MC in Feb this year at 5 weeks). With God's Grace baby was fine with heartbeat. I'd just lost some uterus lining tissue due to the forming of the placenta pushing everything down and causing some scarring. They said I'd have some more bleeding but it's normal. I only had some light browny spotting but no red blood or clots since then (hopefully no more). It's an awful thing to experience as you just think of the worst (especially after a previous loss) but it can all be OK. Hope this provides some comfort to those experiencing the same x

@niki26 @miracle2022 thank you both for your comments, they certainly make me feel better seeing that you both progressed in your pregnancies Grin it definitely is worrying i had convinced myself it was miscarriage and told the sonographer today that I didn't want to see the screen, then she turned it round and it was wriggling away with a heart beat. So happy but still on edge 🙈 hopefully all will be ok

3womeninaboat · 05/08/2021 20:39

No, they didn’t see anything on the scan that could have been causing it so impossible to say. My suspicion is that it came from the cervix and not the uterus at all.

Mon2468 · 05/08/2021 20:52

@3womeninaboat thanks, happy to hear you had two healthy babies ☺️ my bleeding has eased now it's more of a light brown discharge when wiping 😖 sorry TMI!

OP posts:
niki26 · 05/08/2021 21:00

That happened to me too! A brownish discharge really! Just to prewar you - I did notice that for a couple of months afterwards I would get the brown discharge when I was due on my period.

niki26 · 05/08/2021 21:00

Prewarn..... sorry for typo!

Mon2468 · 05/08/2021 21:11

@niki26 did you get this when in first trimester? X

OP posts:
niki26 · 05/08/2021 21:19

@Mon2468 yes - so I had the big bleed when I was 9 weeks and it took a few days to completely clear up. Then I had some brown bleeding (much much lighter though) a couple of weeks later - about when my period would have been due, if I hadn't been pregnant.

Mon2468 · 05/08/2021 21:35

@niki26 it's scary isn't it! I had brownish clear discharge for about 10 days leading up to the bright red bleed then it's tapered off again! Just wish it would all disappear I hate wiping now lol, my 12 scan is 3 weeks away

I had bleeding from about 5 weeks to 17 weeks which was bright red, dark red and clots. It was very stressful because it's totally out of your control and you have no idea if every bleed is a mc. I feel for you op. Just to say though, that that baby is now (supposed to be) sleeping peacefully upstairs. I hope you have a positive outcome too op (un-mumsnetty hugs)
