Pregnant after 2 MMC

Hello, just looking for a bit of advice really. I found out I was pregnant again at the weekend after 2 mmc. First one December, second one April. I'm approximately 4+3, should I ring my doctor to discuss if I should take anything any different to the last two times or just wing it and see what happens 🤷‍♀️ I've got an almost 2yr old that was a completely straightforward conception/pregnancy so I'm kind of thrown by everything. Part of me thinks it must just be pure bad luck but then if I could prevent a third mc I'm willing to try!
I've searched Google and all the usual links that come up, I can see advice to speak to a doctor but just feel like I'd be wasting their time.
Any advice much appreciated!

I'm 24 weeks now. Had 4 mc before, 2 of which were mmc. As I'd had 3 in a row I was put on progesterone suppositories until 12 weeks. After doing my own research I started taking 75mg of aspirin. Consultant upped this ro 150mg - I'll take this until 36 weeks I believe.
Good luck - pregnancy after mc is so nerve wracking. Take it just one day at a time.

I've read about aspirin and did wonder about giving it a go... Will this be your first baby? I think that's the other reason why I'm in two minds because the first time was absolutely fine. I suppose things can change with your body in two years but my lifestyle hasn't particularly changed.

Nope, had 1 mmc then my daughter then 3 consecutive mc hence why I went under consultant care. The way I saw it and I've since been told my midwife the aspirin won't do any harm but may do some good. In fact midwife said they put mothers over 40 on the aspirin in this area anyway as standard. It's so tricky but I wanted to try everything this time as we said we wouldn't try again if we mc again.

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 03/08/2021 15:36

Hmm that's interesting, thank you! I understand why they don't dedicate time to you until its been 3 times but the not knowing why is the hardest part. Its such a lot to put yourself through each time.

@Jeds55
I have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp ttc num 1 I'm hoping to catch again soon and will be put on progesterone great to hear a success story with them, I was taking aspirin with the last 2 losses but only 75 advised by my doc did u start taking it after your bfp or while ttc,
@GoodVibesOnlyPlease
Congratulations on your new pregnancy and hope its a sticky one 💚

Jeds55 · 03/08/2021 15:48

@Babyghirl I started taking 75mg from the day I had bfp. Only upped it to 150mg after I spoke with consultant around 18 weeks. Have they found a reason for your mc? They haven't for mine. At my 20 week scan they did extra check for blood flow to wpmb and that looked fine. All the best

Jeds55 · 03/08/2021 15:51

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease yes it's so hard not knowing why and it is mentally and physically so tough to go through and unfortunately so common. I really hope things work out for you this time

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 03/08/2021 15:58

Thanks @Babyghirl fingers crossed 🤞 thank you @Jeds55 I'm going to have a look into aspirin and maybe give it a go, can't do any harm surely 🤷‍♀️

I'm almost exactly the same as you. Miscarriage in December and March. Now 6weeks. No support until you've had 3 miscarriages.
Midwife said aspirin is ok but to check with gp. Gp told me not to take it as it could cause complications if I were to have another miscarriage. But you can buy it over the counter so I did.

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 03/08/2021 16:13

@spookycookies I have read that, especially if you miscarry naturally it can cause too much bleeding. It's a nightmare isn't it. I can't even feel pleased or excited because I feel like I'm waiting for the inevitable and I'm pissed off that I don't know what to do to stop it. But then part of me thinks third time lucky, there's a higher chance of it being OK than not but I'm already in the percentage of not 🤦‍♀️

@Jeds55
Had all the tests only thing was found was low vitamin d so on supplements to bring it up, had an internal scan 2 weeks ago and have a heart shape uterus to so hoping that's not causing problems, I have read up that the half of the urters that baby does not implantant on could well start bleeding with progesterone falls and that's why it happens so hoping they help 💚

Hey @GoodVibesOnlyPlease OP, firstly so sorry for your losses and all of the other women on here too 💐
I can completely relate. I had a MMC in May (discovered @ 12w scan baby died around 9w) was absolutely devastating. That pregnancy I had zero symptoms… Which makes me wonder if that was an indicator of things to be! Anyway am now pregnant again after my first cycle since my MC (didn’t expect to fall again so quick). I am currently 8W 2D and once again have zero symptoms!! Am now waiting for the inevitable, another MC. I have a private scan booked for Monday where I should be 9W 1D but I feel sick to my stomach knowing Im probably going to get bad news :( I don’t have any DC, this would be my first. Hoping it’s all in my head and this one is successful x

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 04/08/2021 12:57

@AlwaysSeekingComfort it's such a shit situation isn't it. Fingers crossed everything is OK for you! I literally have no feelings towards this pregnancy right now, I'm almost in denial about it 🙈 I still don't know whether to speak to someone or just ride it out and see what happens.

OP posts:
AlwaysSeekingComfort · 04/08/2021 13:34

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease it is indeed. My partner is soooo positive and I’m struggling to join him. I am so scared for Monday. Yes completely get that. Only you know what’s best, if you want to ride it out for a while you do that. Same goes for speaking to someone. There’s no right or wrong answer.x

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 04/08/2021 13:55

I think sometimes it's harder when they're really positive! My OH is slightly hopeful but doesn't want to hope too much, he was devastated the first time, he didn't realise how common it is at all. He did say we could have a private scan every week if it helped 😂 bless him. My biggest thing is feeling like I'm wasting a 'professionals' time which is completely ridiculous. Good luck on Monday 🍀

@Babyghirl interesting- I've had bloods come back as low vitamin D in the past too (before ttc but maybe it was still low then). Hope it all works out

Jeds55 · 04/08/2021 16:37

Re the aspirin I was told by a lady on here not to take the pregnacare multivitamins as I think the vitamin K (can't remember for sure) has opposite effect

Jeds55 · 04/08/2021 16:39

@AlwaysSeekingComfort all the best for Monday - there's a thread on here that I used to post on in first trimester when had no symptoms (before horrific sickness hit) but many ladies on there had no symptoms and all was fine. I'll try find the name, it may help settle you before Monday.

Jeds55 · 04/08/2021 16:41

'recent miscarriages and pregnant again, no symptons'- it's this one. Sorry can't work out how to post link! It starts at 2011 but few of us posted on it earlier this year.
Wishing everyone the best

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 04/08/2021 16:57

@Jeds55 with regard to pregnacare, is that the one you take before or after conception? The last 2 times when I've miscarried I've started taking it earlier thinking it was better but with my first I only started taking it after it was recommended by the midwife at my booking appointment so like 8 weeks. Just clutching at straws here obviously!!

AlwaysSeekingComfort · 04/08/2021 19:37

@Jeds55 thank you so much! I’ll have a read (probably already read it 🤣 as am a serial MN reader)… but thank you. Hopefully settles me til Monday 🤞🏻 Wishing you the best also x

Jeds55 · 04/08/2021 20:52

@GoodVibesOnlyPlease yes the ones you take through pregnancy not the conception ones. MC plays with your mind and makes you second guess everything doesn't it?! I haven't taken them this time, I just take the vitamins I need separately but I did take them with dd but wasn't on aspirin then. It may have been on the thread I mentioned above where someone explained about the vitamins and Aspirin but not sure.

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 04/08/2021 21:00

My head is an absolute wreck today, I go from being completely calm and not thinking about it to my heart racing thinking how on earth can I deal with another loss. I've been googling vitamin k, I'm going to stop taking the pregnacare and go back to just folic acid, I've order folic acid and vitamin d that should be here at the weekend.

OP posts:
AlwaysSeekingComfort · 04/08/2021 21:04

Oh know…. I take pregnacare max… should I stop and just take vit D & folic? Worried now! X

GoodVibesOnlyPlease · 05/08/2021 06:30

@AlwaysSeekingComfort I'm sure it will be fine, I took them from about 8 weeks in my first pregnancy and didn't have any problems. I'm literally clutching at straws to at least feel like I'm doing something that will make a difference this time!
