Low key baby shower

Afternoon all.
I’m 24 weeks pregnant and people are starting to ask me about baby showers. I’ve been to many and I personally am not a fan of them. I don’t want the whole gender reveal / games thing and don’t expect gifts from anyone to put people under pressure. I’d like to meet friends and family though beforehand just to enjoy their company. I’ve just lost my mother so I don’t want a big fuss but something low key. Has anyone else done anything similar please?

I wanted something similar then the worry of covid got too much and I cancelled it. It wasn’t meant to be a baby shower, just a casual outdoor gathering with some friends. My friends all put in together to get me a gift and a few of them came to surprise me with it last week which was lovely. I had thought of also doing a casual afternoon tea before I cancelled it. Have heard of people doing things like that and they’ve been nice

One of my friends threw me a surprise shower, it's was just as 6 people could meet so was very small. We had a lovely afternoon tea in her garden, It was so nice as I had been shielding and hadn't seen anyone in such a long time. We just sat in the sun chatted away and ate cake

Yes - I was absolutely adamant that I didn't want a shower and told my sister and some close friends so that they could put the kibosh on any well-meaning plans for a surprise. Just have a little get-together and don't call it a shower if you don't want gifts.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I didn't want a baby shower either but it was kind of forced upon me. Luckily baby was on my side and came that weekend so it was cancelled.

What about a pub lunch or something with your nearest and dearest.
