What is that smell (tmi)

Oh my god the last 2 days I feel like down below just stinks!
I can't even describe the smell, I thought it was my wee at first but I smell it as soon as I pull down my pants 🙈
I saw my midwife on Friday evening and was examined and had my urine tested, she said everything was clear (did mention a discharge but said was completely normal)
Whyyyyy does it smell?

I'm 37 weeks, I really hope someone can shed some light on this as I'm dreading going into labour and having some poor midwife having her head down there 😬

If you put on fresh underwear is the smell still there?

I can’t help but hoping someone can. I’m the same! No idea what it can be. I’m showering and changing underwear at least twice a a day

What does it smell like?

I think your sense of smell might also be heightened - I remember this too when I was pregnant. Smelt sort if ‘womanly’. I do not miss it!

Went for a water birth so no one went near my bits in the event

My first thought is bacterial vaginosis. The smell is labelled as 'fishy' but I remember the first time I had it not thinking that fishy was quite the right word. Is it worse after sex?

Yeah it's probably bacterial vaginosis if you can smell it that strongly. It's a horrid smell, not quite fishy, almost a rotten meat smell in my experience (tmi)

I had an internal examination on Friday evening surely my midwife would have picked up on me having bv?

Iv also noticed that when I am wiping the paper is very yellowy/orange but my urine was also tested and was clear?

Perhaps I should call my gp

Hard to say really, pretty sure I've got it right now and it doesn't constantly smell really bad.. but yeah I'd ring your gp and they'll take it from there.

You could get one of those test kits from Canesten to put your mind at rest

I dont know what the smell is but all i wl say is i smelt the oddest things will I was pregnant! I always smelt smoke amd my dog had a really funky smell throughout most of my pregnancy that my partner couldnt smell! Few days after having baby everything was ok, and the dog smells fine

Hi how did you get on baby all ok? I had a sweep today 40 weeks and noticed a fish type smell after I'm scared stiff of a infection going to Baby. I'm going to msg midwife tomorrow and tell her about it
