Disappointed about bra size??

Velvetscrunchy · 01/08/2021 12:40

Anyone else disappointed in their new bra size? I was a 32C per pregnancy and always wanted to be bigger. I thought pregnancy would give me at least a fleeting moment of bigger boobs! I have just been measured at almost 20 weeks to find out I am now 36…..A!! No change to cup size, just my ribs that are increasing. 😤

I think maybe you need to get properly measured ie Boob or Bust Method, because if your ribs are increasing, your back measurement would be too?

Her back measurement has gone up. From a 32 to a 36.
PinkPlantCase · 01/08/2021 12:52

Wait until after baby is born 🤣 my boobs hardly fit into any of my old tops now.

dementedpixie · 01/08/2021 13:00

If you still have breast tissue that sticks out further than your ribs then you are not an A cup. Hope you weren't measured in M&S as they add inches to the back size. Try measuring yourself using the boob or bust site

User0ne · 01/08/2021 13:12

I seriously doubt the new measurements are correct. I go from a 32-34 back when pregnant (and put on 2 1/2 stone). Boobs tend to grow in 3rd trimester and the couple of weeks post partum. I go from a 32c to 34g! Does my head in

Velvetscrunchy · 01/08/2021 13:51

I haven’t looked at the boob and bust method… so glad this has been mentioned here! I just did regular measuring at home and was about to go to M&S to be measured and buy!

Oh blimey Blush I read 36C to 36A, sorry! Still recommend BoB though, it's a revelation!

Thefaceofboe · 01/08/2021 16:51

Well I’m disappointed I’ve got stretch marks round my boobs when they haven’t stretched in the slightest Grin

H8theW8 · 01/08/2021 19:43

I've never had much going on in the boob department and I was really looking forward to finally having some boobs in my first pregnancy... it never happened!!! My back got wider but my boobs stayed the same size. Over 13 months later my back remains wider but the boobs are still small (although pert so can't complain too much). Breast pain/tenderness was never a symptom for me though, not sure if that's why?!

Velvetscrunchy · 02/08/2021 21:27

I put my measurements in a boob and bust method calculator and it tells me I’m 32DD. Not completely convinced as a 32 band is killing me at the moment.

dementedpixie · 02/08/2021 21:46

If you are wearing a 32C when you measure a 32DD then it will feel tight as the breast tissue is stealing inches from the back as there isn't enough room in the cup to contain it.

Definite not a 36 if you measure 32 under your bust

delilahbucket · 02/08/2021 22:13

A 32C is not the same fitting as a 32DD. You are squeezing into a cup and that breast tissue has to go somewhere. Try a 32DD and see, and whatever you do, stay away from the M&S lingerie appointment. I once went in to look, they convinced me to have a measure up, stuck me in a 36DD (I was a 32G) and I wasted money on a bra that rode up so far it was across the top of my shoulder blades. All because I was too nice to say no. I was only 19. Much wiser now 😂

Soverymuchfruit · 02/08/2021 23:54

Bit unnecessary? Why are women big on solidarity for big boobs but feel it necessary to make this sort of remark?

OP, I was a 36A for many years and loved it. You can wear a bigger back because you don't need the support. You can wear no bra at all when you're working from home. And all is still perfectly nice. I agree you've probably measured wrong, but this is very far from being a bad size to be.

My pregnancy bra size disappointment is that I am no longer a 36A. And I expect I never will be again. Not a big surprise but I still feel a bit wistful about it.

This isn't about having big or small boobs, it's just about having the right size bra. A C cup on a 32 band is not the same volume as a C cup on a 36 band. The pic attached explains it.

How was it unnecessary? An A cup means only 1 inch difference between under and over the bust measurements. If there is breast tissue there that protrudes from the chest then you are unlikely to be an A cup. OP has demonstrated this by measuring again and getting 32DD instead of 36A.
SunnySideUp2020 · 03/08/2021 08:04

Enjoy the small boobs! I ended up with 2 massive milk jugs instead 🥲🥲🤭 can't even walk fast 😑
Don't know if you plan on BF but that will also change the size later

Soverymuchfruit · 03/08/2021 10:53

Lol, thanks for proving my point @dementedpixie! Obviously A cup refers to small boobs, but this means it's perfectly reasonable, correct and not at all unnecessarily insulting to say that anyone who actually has breast tissue is not an A cup? And so, anyone who is an A cup does not in fact have breasts? Right. Good. You carry on then.

@Shmithecat2 I'm not sure what your point is? My point was that there's nothing wrong with 36A, though I said I agreed OP had possibly measured it wrong. You seem to be trying to refute this obviously reasonable point with the breast sizing chart?

KiwiDramaQueen · 03/08/2021 13:33

@Velvetscrunchy

Hello, I did boob or bust recently and was shocked to be told I should be a 32FF instead of 36C. I ordered a bunch of bras in different sizes and ended up settling for 34E as I felt that the 32F was a too tight (and the cup size slightly off). I’ve been wearing it for a month or so now and it’s already stretched enough to be using the second catch, so I think I probably could have gone with 32F and it would have been fine once worn in.

The point is, I don’t think the new maternity on BOB will be as far off as you think!

KiwiDramaQueen · 03/08/2021 13:34

*measurement! Not maternity

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 03/08/2021 13:45

I was a 34GG before pregnancy. My boobs shrunk as soon as I got pregnant and never went back to the original size.
I then got fatter after the birth and got much wider.
I'm pregnant again and my boobs are starting to shrink already Hmm.

loolylau · 03/08/2021 18:14

I'm at a total loss with bras!
I was (I think, tbh no bra fitted me perfect pre-pregnancy) a 36C... usually a size 12, occasional 10. Every bra I owed now feels way too tight in the band but so do most of the 38C's I've ordered to try 🤦🏼‍♀️. I'm still fitting into a lot of my size 12 tops therefore don't feel like I should be a 40 band.....

If you are a size 10/12 there is no way you are a 38 or 40 band. Do you really measure 40 inches around the ribcage?! Boob or bust as pps have said

You probably need a bigger cup rather than a bigger band. What is the difference between your under bust and over bust measurements?

I am a 20/22 and wear a 36 back bra (36GG)

dementedpixie · 03/08/2021 18:25

P.s. the C cup on the 38 band is not the same as the C cup on a 36 band as the cup size is relative to the back size; the C cup on the 38 band is larger than the C on a 36 band

I was a JJ in my last pregnancy. Careful what you wish for!
