Extra scans according to sonographer?

I recently had my 20 week scan and all was well. The sonographer was lovely and explained everything which put all my worries at ease.

As we were leaving the room, she casually said 'dont panic if your midwife sends you for additional scans, its a good excuse to see baby again'.
This really threw me as everything with the scan was normal.
I asked if I needed to be worried and if there were problems and she just said 'no, sometimes some people need them'. And that was that.

Its been playing on my mind a bit.
I dont have a midwife appointment for a few more weeks yet either.
If there was something wrong on the scan she would have said, I know.
Could this be due to my height as Im just over 5ft 1? DH is quite alot taller.
I can only assume she meant growth scans?
Anyone had something similar?

I would guess that she just meant in general, hypothetically, people might need additional scans. So for example, if you suddenly start measuring big or small, you might get sent for a growth scan.

But if there was any reason for any concern at that point, she would have told you, so don't give her comment a second thought!

My 20 week scan was fine, like you I’m short at 5ft - then at 28 weeks when my midwife started measuring my bump which was small so I was sent for growth scans.

Can be totally normal she just wanted to be sure but said the likelihood was a that because I’m petite and DP isn’t tall either it was just that our baby isn’t going to be huge. However after growth scans they were slightly concerned and turned out her she IUGR and with issues with blood flow to the placenta. She was born small 4lbs 13oz at 37 weeks.

But growth scans can be totally normal :)

I imagine the sonographer was meaning to put your mind at ease just in case you need extra scans for whatever reason. If there was any indication there was something wrong at this stage they would have said.

My 12 & 20 week scans were both fine & I assumed that was the last time I'd see my baby until I gave birth. I'm now 24 weeks & had my first telephone appointment with the consultant this week. He said he was sending me for extra scans at 32 & 36 weeks due to some light spotting in early pregnancy. I was pleasantly surprised by this & looking forward to them now!

Thank you for your reassurance @PrimeraVez.
At the time I didnt really give it much thought, I was just so happy that the scan didnt show any abnormalities!
Its just played on my mind a bit for a while and with my next appoinment quite a way off, Ive been over thinking it.
I do think I am quite big for just over 20 weeks but its my first pregnancy so have nothing to compare it to!

I was sent for extra growth scans after my bump was measuring small. There can be lots of reasons
