Does my scan look okay?

This is my first pregnancy so I am scared of everything lol. I had some red bleeding which turned pink and then went brown. I also had cramps and back aches. All the tell tale signs of miscarriage. So I went to the EPU they scanned me and gave me this picture. I even got to hear the heartbeat. Does this look healthy for 7 weeks??? Why is baby only on one side? Also does it look like my cervix is closed or can’t you tell? Sorry for all the questions I just really appreciate the expertise I read a lot of posts on mumsnet since being pregnant and I just wanted to reach out and ask what you think because you always have great experiences and advice to offer. One last thing! Whenever I go poop I bleed from my vagina and then it goes away. Is this normal? Or a sign of pending miscarriage? I really thought seeing and hearing the heartbeat would reassure me but it didn’t last long because here I am worrying again!!!!!! Aghhhh

I don’t think asking strangers on the internet who aren’t medically trained is a good idea. Sonographers are trained to know what to look for and if they had concerns they should have told you.

Was this a private or nhs scan?

Anyone who is actually qualified to give you the answer to this would be well aware that it probably amounts to professional misconduct to give an opinion on the scan appearances via the internet.

@Nightmanagerfan the NHS scanned me bcos they were worried it may be ectopic. They didn’t say they had any concerns. I was asking because I wanted to know if my scan looks like normal 7 weeks scans I have no comparison since this is my first pregnancy. I just wanted some reassurance.

Okay forget about the scan. Does anyone know why I am bleeding only after bowel movements?

Absolutely no medical experience but my 8 week reassurance scan picture was absolutely impossible to see anything on and I remember being a bit ‘eh, is that it? It looks like a grey dot on a black sheet?’

She emerged at 9lbs so I can reassure you that a weird grey dot is capable of doing a hell of a lot of growing in 32 weeks!

Did you not ask all these questions of the actual medical professionals caring for you ?

USS is a dynamic process a single still shot is pointless ( well apart from the aww isn’t it cute it’s a baby ) side of things.

If they didn’t express worry then calmly carry on. Nothing can be done to make this “ stick “ . It either will or won’t - seeing a heartbeat is a positive thing

Sorry you're feeling anxious. I don't have any advice about the bleeding but there are alot of posts on here about bleeding in early pregnancy so I'd have a look at those. I know it's not specific to your situation but you might fine some reassurance.
As for the scan, I had an 8 week scan that was abit clearer than yours but it was an internal scan (don't know if yours was). Did the sonographer show you much on the screen when they were doing it? In all honesty I've seen plenty of 12 week and even 20 week scans that just look like blobs, so try not to get too focused on the pic. Seeing a heartbeat is a really good sign

Some women experience bleeding due to straining for a bowel movement, you can try increasing fibre and fluid intake to see if that helps. If it continues then ask epau for other possible causes, they may find answers but sometimes bleeding continues without explanation.
Your scan looks pretty standard for around 7wk with a "blob" of a baby. Only time will tell if baby will continue to develop, it can go either way after seeing a heartbeat around your stage. I had a scan at 7wk with twins who thrived and are now 6 years old, my last pregnancy baby measured 7+4wk but sadly miscarried that one. All you can do is hope all goes well in these early stages.

Have they offered a repeat scan to track progress?
