2nd trimester - still feel rubbish!

Did anyone else not suddenly get the energy surge and feel better like everyone says?

I had a little one, but I’m now 18 weeks and the past 2 weeks I’ve felt AWFUL. Exhaustion is on another level, a full nights sleep isn’t enough, appetite is reduced majorly, dizzy and skin is breaking out again.

It all started calming down around 13 weeks? So it feels like it’s resurfaced now at 16 or so

Is this normal? Is it just another surge of hormones? I really feel like I’m back in my first trimester and I’m wiped

I'm almost 20 weeks and I've had terrible insomnia and restless legs at night. I have days where I just feel absolutely zapped. You're not alone. It's different for every person. How were your iron levels? I had my doctor check mine again recently due to feeling rubbish.

3rd pregnancy, I never feel much better once the nausea and tiredness hits in first tri, just different forms of nausea, heartburn, discomfort and tiredness. It's normal, everyone does pregnancy differently, it's not a given that you'll feel better in second tri.

I had my ds 4 weeks ago. I was exhausted throughout the whole of my pregnancy! With my dd I was bad up until week 14 and then had more energy after but last pregnancy was permanently exhausted. My iron levels were perfect and my midwife said it was probably the fact I was growing a baby whilst working and also looking after a 3/4 year old.

Thank you both. I started worrying I was ill or had something wrong with me due to the amount of people saying “the 2nd trimester is the best!” And going on about this surge of energy - I’ve felt abnormal!

I will definitely request my iron levels to be checked thank you :)

I have had two pregnancies.

With my first I felt great during the second trimester. In fact, when I look back now that particular pregnancy actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was.

With my second, however, I felt ok for half of my second trimester. I never got an energy surge though. I just didn’t feel really sick anymore. The whole pregnancy was pretty miserable though.

Every pregnancy is different. There isn’t really any rules, it’s just how your body reacts.

Just listen to your body and rest as much as you can.

Im still waiting for my 2nd trimester glow like Ive been promised by everyone.
Ive felt rubbish throughout with HG and am on meds to control it.
I still feel knackered most of the time and struggling to sleep despite wanting to crash out at every given opportunity.
The only plus is that im not vomiting constantly now.
Everyone is different though. No 2 pregnancies are the same as I am finding out now.
This is my first so nothing except friends who I can compare to and they all seem to have had it 'easy' so to speak.
Just taking each day as it comes and resting when I feel i need to.
