I just had my baby at 38+1! So happy but a bit worried about whether it's too early? I've been freaking myself out googling. Any similar stories?

Congratulations, I'm sure your baby will be fine, anything after 37 weeks is considered full term. How is the baby doing?

StartupRepair · 31/07/2021 10:59

My DC were both induced at 38. Both fine with a touch of jaundice at 4 days old. It is considered full term. Congratulations.

Dandy0911 · 31/07/2021 11:00

Baby will be fine! I had DD at just over 36 weeks and we were home within 2 days.

She was a bit jaundice and needed some phototherapy but apart from that a baby after 37 weeks is full term.

Have any of the medical staff showed any concern? If your baby is healthy, and feeding then I don't think you need to worry. My brother was born at 34 weeks, and I was born at 38 and we are both fine. I'm sure there are horror stories out there but you would know pretty soon if there were worries. What weight is your baby? Congratulations!!

My dd was born at 38 + 3, absolutely fine. Full term is from 37 weeks

Our twins were born bang on 38wk, they were perfect and thrived.

IggyAce · 31/07/2021 13:06

Dc1 was born at 36+6 and dc2 38wks both had a touch of jaundice but they thrived. They are 15 & 10 now.

Maggiesfarm · 31/07/2021 14:11

That's not very early, your baby will be fine. Congratulations!

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 31/07/2021 14:12

Full term is from 37 weeks so your baby isn’t early so try not to worry.

piggie88 · 31/07/2021 15:38

Both mine were born at 36+1 and absolutely fine. Congratulations!

KarenofSparta · 31/07/2021 15:47

Oh OP, in the best way I have to say fretting about that is utterly bonkers. 2 weeks early or late is the only way optimal human pregnancy could be worked out.

Mother of a 2 week early perfectly healthy in-every-way daughter speaking :)

Bigfathairyones · 31/07/2021 15:52

DS (20!) was born at 38wk. Entirely normal and now hugely tall physical specimen Grin

ElbowsandArses · 31/07/2021 16:00

Mine born at 34+6 and had a short spell in NICU straight after being born (2 days?) and are now both taller than me.

isthisouting · 31/07/2021 16:03

Under 35 weeks here but very healthy baby, just a little jaundiced for 3 days. Now a hectic 3yo. You'll be fine!!

BlueSurfer · 31/07/2021 16:05

None of my four were born as late as 38+1. It’s term, it’s fine.

nothanksbarb · 31/07/2021 16:30

Dd was 38+5. But jaundiced but apart from that perfect!

KitKatKong · 31/07/2021 16:31

My DD born at 39 weeks and all is so far absolutely fine! Enjoy and try not to worry- easier said than done! Xxxx

OatyBarKid · 31/07/2021 16:33

Dc2 was born at 38 weeks, he's a moody irrational tiny dictator, but he's also 2 years old...so that's normal Grin

Metallicalover · 31/07/2021 16:35

Baby is fully cooked at 37 weeks, anything before 37 weeks is classed as premature xx enjoy your newborn xx

georgarina · 31/07/2021 19:40

Congratulations!

Floralnomad · 31/07/2021 19:44

My daughter is early 20s , when I had her (ELCS) they booked them routinely at 38 weeks . Congratulations 💐

October2020 · 31/07/2021 19:44

Are you joking? My daughter was born at 32 weeks and was on a ward with 23 weekers!!! You aren't seriously asking if 38 weeks is early. If your anxiety continues to be like this you must seek support.

Garman · 31/07/2021 19:47

38 weeks is full term, from 37 weeks is full term so there's no reason to be concerned at all. Your baby hasn't come early, just on time.
