Hi, i know everyone is different but i'd love someone with a similar story to me to help manage expectations.
I had a confirmed miscarriage at 6 weeks this Monday and they said to go home and think of my options. I was going to do medicated miscarriage but i've started spotting this morning with tiny clots.
I will call the EPU when they open but i wondered what other peoples experience was with natural miscarriage? The pain level? Bleeding?
I expect heavy clots but im so scared!!

I’m really sorry this has happened. In my experience with a miscarriage at about 6 weeks, the bleeding was like a period. It was not painful but there was quite a lot of blood. For me the emotional side of things was worse because I was devastated and just felt so sad. Look after yourself and I hope you get some kind support from EPU.

@3yearstrying
I have had 4 miscarriages two at 6 weeks and two at just over ten weeks the 6 weeks one's where the easiest to get through just like a heavy period but bleeding mostly while on the toilet, the worse cramps where when I was passing the sac and that was just like really bad period cramps, if you can try get stronger painkillers of your doctor to get you through it and a hot water bottle just don't plan to leave the house as ur urge to go to the toilet will come on Al of a sudden and for me it was just blood and passing stuff but there's nothing to be a scared of r body's know what they r doing and you will get through it, so sorry this is happening to you take care of your self I also noticed while it was happening I would get dizzy so watch out for that and lie down if it happens drink planty to 💚

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I've had 3 miscarriages and the one at 6 weeks lasted a couple of weeks.
Basically I was spotting brown/pink blood for 10 days then I woke up to strong contractions and started bleeding more heavily. After 30 mins I passed everything in one go and the bleeding turned into a light period type bleed and stopped a week later

@Babyghirl @Odile13
Thank you for your responses! Makes me feel a bit more at ease. I did what you shouldnt and read all these horror stories and i made it worse!
There was never a heartbeat that developed, so although its an awful loss i am hoping the pregnancy wont be obvious to see and i can just get all this over with.
Its my first pregnancy so im dreading getting a positive again, but also hopeful i'll have a healthy baby one day!

@3yearstrying
Don't read horror stories, stay way clear of them, I wish someone had of told me what would of happened so I could be more prepared when it was happening, I can tell u how I knw I passed the sac the first time tmi when I passed clots its like the just slid in to the toilet making no nose but passing tissue kind of made a splash if you get me second 6 week miscarriage I passed the sac on my pad you can tell its skin colour and hardish, sorry if that's tmi but it would of helped me to hear it at the time 💚

3yearstrying · 30/07/2021 08:13

@Babyghirl thats really helpful thankyou! I am prepared and the detail really helps, so theres no such thing a TMI for me! So sorry to hear you've been through this so many times, i wouldnt wish it upon anyoneFlowers

@3yearstrying
Its an awful thing to go through but you will get your rainbow baby one day, I also had hot baths that helped it along to cry if u need to I kept it all in and did not help me in the long run 💚

So sorry for your loss @3yearstrying Thanks I had a mc at home at 7 weeks last year. I'd had brown spotting & some cramping for 2 weeks prior. Just before I passed the sac I had a brief crampy feeling like when you have an upset stomach, it wasn't intensely painful.

What I would say is take it very easy afterwards. The day after mine I threw myself into redecorating to take my mind off it which was a big mistake. I got really bad pains & was in bed for a few days. The bleeding was like a period & lasted about 2 weeks.

3yearstrying · 30/07/2021 09:26

@JackJack84 i feel so much better about it now, thank you! I woke up this morning and i had been spotting, ive stopped now so i think im at the starting stages. Im reluctant to take the tablets now if my body can manage this by itself but i'l see how the next day or so goes.
Sorry for your loss too, i have come to terms with it now i think and just want this stage over Flowers

@3yearstrying I know what you mean, as much as I desperately wanted the pregnancy it was such a relief once it was over & I felt like I could move on. It's horrible being stuck in that limbo. I really hope things are quick for you. If it's any consolation I'm now 24 weeks pregnant so if you're thinking of trying again in the future there is hope 😊

So sorry you are going through this. My 1st MC, at 11 weeks needed medical management. It was the most painful of all my mc's, due to the meds causing contractions, but manageable. All I had was paracetamol. The acute pain stage was only when the cervix was opening, so less than 1hr.

2nd was at 7 weeks. I had spotting, but no pain at all, so went to work. Unfortunately I mc's at work! Bled for about 6 days, and was very similar to a very heavy period. My next period started exactly on time a month later!

3rd MC at 9 weeks, was more painful that the 2nd one, but not as bad as the one requiring medical management. Once again I had some period like, mild cramping, but the acute pain that time was only maybe 15mins.

I found walking around and being active helped to open the cervix and move things along. It was the normal side effects of the medical management pills which were the issue. Its very common to get nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. You can also get a fever. My face went like a beetroot and I was burning up! Paracetamol helped the fever too, but I wished I'd be told about the side effects beforehand, then I might have known what was going on!

Personally, in your case, I'd wait and see. Don't be worried about the pills though, if that is what is advised down the line. The link below might be useful too. They also have a live, helpline if you need to talk to someone. Flowers

@JackJack84 congratulations!!! Thats such good news! This was my first try so i am definitely going to try again, comforting to know i'll be classed as high risk next time in some ways as i know i'll have more scans early on.

@Eleoura im so sorry to hear you've been through this so manh times! Thank you for so much detail, i think i am going to ride this out and let my body do as much as it can and then see what the nurses think.
I understand that the medicated way helps push things along so may be more painful but if i can do it without, with a little less pain i would definitely prefer that!

Thanks for the link too i'll be having a good read of it Flowers

So the pain woke me up at 4am this morning! Comes on an off, i presume these are the 'contraction' like pains because wow its not comfortable!! No clots passed yet, just bleeding but i am currently sat on the toilet where i think i'll be all day!!

Sorry to hear you're in so much pain! Have you taken some paracetamol? I found a heated wheat bag helped with the cramping as well. Sending you a virtual hug & hoping this doesn't last too long for you Thanks
