Brown discharge 29 weeks?

Hi all, this is my third pregnancy after 2 miscarriages last year. Everything has been going great and I had a midwife check up on Wednesday where everything was perfect - bloods hood, fundal height 50th centile, weight perfect and babies heartbeat and position perfect (head down but not engaged).

The last week or so movement has been more regular, baby is active most of the time but not in an alarming or over vigorous way.

Last night totally threw me because for the first time in this pregnancy I got some brown discharge when I wiped. I also felt a little bit come out while I was cooking dinner and it was in my pants. Not loads of it, it doesn’t smell, I’m not in pain and baby is still moving as normal. I last had sex 3 days ago and also had 2nd covid jab dose 3 days ago, and the day after I got bad flu symptoms but no temperature. I feel fine now and baby has been active even when I was ill with the side effects.

I called triage, they asked loads of questions and I gave all the answers above. They said just to monitor and put a pad on, and to call back if it gets worse or there is any decrease in movement. I was expecting them to ask me to come in but they didn’t, and they didn’t seem worried at all.

Should I be worried? Is everything going to be ok?

The sex was 3 days ago so I feel like it’s a bit of a gap to only get the brown discharge last night, but not sure. Help 😞

Thank you, yeah I was fully expecting to have to go in yesterday and was surprised they were so chill about it. I guess because the baby is so active.

I have had a little diarrhoea after the covid jab this time too so wonder if that might be something to do with it?

Just gonna see how it goes today and maybe ring them at lunch if I’m still worried xx

Yes, this sounds very familiar. After my 1st Covid jab I had diarrhoea and bleeding / spotting for 5 days. I found someone else online the very same day going through the exact same. Your timeline sounds like mine - I didn't have secondary effects after the 2nd jab though and baby is fine.

Please do raise this on the yellow card app and the Pfizer website. I believe some pregnant women are experiencing this combination of symptoms after the vaccine but I suspect it's not spoken about to avoid discouraging people.

PS: like you, I'd had not spotting at all throughout the whole pregnancy aside from post-vaccine.

@Iris2020 that’s very interesting, I hadn’t really properly considered that it was due to the vaccine but now thinking it makes the most sense, as I’ve had no brown spotting throughout my whole pregnancy. I will report it on yellow card.

Just to give an update - I only had the brown spotting for that one night, it’s gone back to normal now. Baby has been active throughout and no issues there at all.

Thank you all for helping to calm me down xx
