Brown spotting

Light thin brown spotting for 5 days instead of my usual very heavy period no red blood present no clots no pink either. Could it be pregnancy or more likely stress/hormones? (I’m on cycle day 33 and my average cycle is 28 according to my period tracker.)

@Redlilyrose
Have you done a test you should get an answer by now,

Redlilyrose · 30/07/2021 20:07

So last night over to today the spotting stopped and there was nothing and my period app said 4 days late, so I bought a test this morning and it was negative then just now at 3pm I see some a touch of red and know my period has started. I’ve never had brown spotting more than 2 days so it was super strange for me but just a delayed cycle. We were not trying to conceive as my husband is overwhelmed with just the 1 - 4 yr old but I wish I had another even though he does not.

Hi, I was wondering if you ever figured out the cause of your spotting. i am 34 years old trying to conceive naturally. Usually my periods always start with spotting 2-3 days and then i bleed as normal and finish again with 2-3 days of spotting. For the last two months however I have noticed a change in the pattern. On the expected period start date i get very very faint brown spots, very small spots on the panty liner, i checked for pregnancy and came out negative. I ignored this the last month but it is happening again this month. What could this be? Should i be concerned. My spotting starts on the first day and continues for about 6 days and it is very very faint. Help please

Could be dropping to soon after day 21 I would ask for progesterone from CD21 until period or a bfp to c if it helps.

@Zeenak
Im on ttc after miscarriage thread and a lady on there was low progesterone was giving it to take day after ovulation and she got pregnant that cycle she now 11 weeks.
After 4 miscarriages and 1 cp I'm getting it for next pregnancy but going to ask my rmc consultant can I have it for after ovulation.

@Babyghirl thanks but i am very new to this process and pardon me but i do not know what "ttc" "cp" "rmc" is.
I am sorry to hear about the miscarriage and hope you conceive soon .
Are you recommending taking progesterone straight after period finished but before ovulation. I usually ovulate on day 18.
My day 21 progesterone level came normal.

Babyghirl · 31/10/2021 00:22

@Zeenak
Sorry just getting back you, ttc (trying to conceive. Rcm (recurrent miscarriage clinic) cp (chemical pregnancy). You take progesterone after ovulation up until you get your period unless you get a positive test. I was like that with the slang at the start but you will get use to it lol

@Babyghirl thanks for explaining it to me.
Should I take the progesterone orally or as an external application

Babyghirl · 31/10/2021 22:29

@Zeenak
You take it vaginal but it say you can take it up the back passage to the say its not as messy lol.

Zeenak · 01/11/2021 00:37

@Babyghirl have you tried this?
Should i take prog anyway or should i get a prescription from the doc? Are there any know side effects to taking it? btw i am 35 year old not children yet!

Zeenak · 01/11/2021 01:19

Also is there a way to measure your hormones at home: estrogen amd progestrone. I use the LH strips but they don't measure anything else other than LH

Zeenak · 01/11/2021 01:35

my day 21 progestrone came to 4.7ng/ml
I am not sure if this is enough or not but this was taken in Sept

Babyghirl · 01/11/2021 06:35

@Zeenak
Im getting it on my next bfp cause I have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp ttc num 1,a girl I'm on a thread with took it day after ovulation after miscarriages and fell pregnant that cycle and is now 11 weeks pregnant. Mine was 16.5 says I ovulated but doc said on the low end cause anything over 16 says you ovulated.

I'm with the rmc so getting it off him from my nxt bfp but going to ask can I have it after ovulation instead.
I know you can go private to progesterone worth looking in to I'm 38 so hoping it helps nxt baby along.

Zeenak · 01/11/2021 14:08

@babyghirl wish you all the luck. I have an upcoming ultrasound and then an appointment with my OBGYN the following day. Your progestrone was 16.5 ng/ml? i thought thats a good level

Babyghirl · 01/11/2021 17:35

@Zeenak
They say 16 says you ovulated so mines was on the low side but ovulation still detected. Good luck for your ultrasound and app 💚

Zeenak · 02/11/2021 16:41

@Babyghirl my doc seems to think that day 21 prog level 4.7ng/ml is normal!

Babyghirl · 02/11/2021 19:10

@Zeenak
Everytime I was reading up on it I was getting this.

Zeenak · 03/11/2021 13:42

@babyghirl yes i looked it up too and was concerned but after speaking to the doctor, she re-assured me that day 21 progestrone should be higher if one is pregnant but it will not be higher if one is not pregnanat.

Loz2467 · 07/11/2022 14:37

How did you all get on? I’ve been having brown spotting before my period now for 12 months. I went to a private clinic and was given progesterone to take from 2 days past ovulation but I’ve had 5 months of it now and no luck. I’ve convinced naturally twice but unfortunately second pregnancy resulted in a second trimester miscarriage.
