6 weeks and no heartbeat seen on ultrasound

Went to my EPU today for a scan as I have been having light brown spotting for a few days. I’m currently around 6 weeks pregnant. Went for my scan and they couldn’t detect the heartbeat, they have booked me in for another scan next Friday to see if anything’s progressed.

I only ovulated around 3rd July so by conception date only really 5+5. Should I prepare for the worst?

I think it's pretty normal to not see a heartbeat that early?

Was it an abdominal scan or vaginal?

Tbh with the spotting it's not looking totally optimistic BUT you are really early and lots of people have this sort of scan and then next time it's looking good. I would try to stay positive but realistic. Hope you get a good result.

I didn't see a HB this early. They barely saw anything! Currently 37 weeks so all good 😃 it's still super early. Have they done bloods? That's a good indication I think x

Thanks ladies. It was an internal scan, they didn’t give me much information to be honest and kinda rushed me out. They just said it’s 50/50 and come back next week.. felt deflated afterwards!

I had brown spotting and didn't see a HB at 6 weeks.
2.5 year old currently in the bath!
A lot can change in a week op!
Of course it can go either way but at this stage waiting a week is the best thing, it's hard a lot can happen.

I was 6w6d when I seen it!
You may just be a tad early!
Did they see yolk sac, fetal pole?

I ovulated on the 3rd which would put me around 5+4 but by my last period puts me at 6+2. Yes they showed me everything but just said they couldn’t seen a heartbeat! Keeping everything crossed just a horrible week wait x

This is a pic of what I could see at what I thought was 6w+1 by periods (it was actually 5w+4 however by dating scan)

I then went on to have an early scan at 10w where baby was fine.

They went by my bloods which doubled HCG and good progesterone levels too.

As you can see by the pic- you could barely see a thing!!

Thank you! They don’t routinely offer blood tests to check levels where I am in the uk. Now have a week of dread ahead! Xx
