Gestational Diabetes - what to do?

Hi
So yesterday I got the call I have Gestational Diabetes my reading was 0.2 over. Felt slightly overwhelmed with the information over the phone but will hopefully feel ok once start doing the blood sugar readings and having the appointments and growth scans etc. I'm currently 31wks3days pregnant.
One thing the midwife did say was that they may start offering sweeps from 37 weeks. I know everyone is different but was wondering how likely this would be. I work in a school and currently off for the Summer but was going to go back for 8 working days in Sept and finish when I would be 37wks4days. Now I'm thinking should I consider finishing the week before I had planned so I would be 36wks4days? Just in case.
I have got a midwife appointment tomorrow for my 31week check so will see how that goes and how baby measures. When I had my measurement at 28weeks they said baby was measuring at 50th centile. The reason they referred me for GTT was that my BMI was 31 at booking in.

I had GD in pregnancy, discovered around tbe same time as you.

I ended up on metformin, but it was controlled after that; I had a planned induction at 39 weeks due to the GD which is what my hospital recommend, although I was part of a GD group oj fb and lots of women pushed that back.

I ended up having her st 37+4, but I was induced due to high blood pressure in the end!

Definitely have a word with the midwife and see what they say

You could always ask for a sweep at 38 weeks? I was induced with my first at 38, had a sweep that did nothing as cervix was still high and closed. The advice varies a lot from trust to trust, with regards to managing the GD I’d suggest joining the gestational diabetes Facebook group as there’s a ton of advice on there, and the website of the same name has lots of advice, meal plans, recipes etc.
