Random contractions at 37 weeks

Hi,

I'm 37 weeks with DS2. I never had labour with DS1 as we had some complications and he needed to be born via ELCS at 39 weeks, I had plenty of braxton hicks though.

This time, I'm having an ELCS again booked for 39 weeks. However, recently DS1 has moved into my pelvis. Unfortunately I don't see midwife until next week so I don't know if he's engaged however, I'm struggling to walk and feel as though there is a bowling ball between my legs.

I have quite frequent shooting pains down below and lots of pressure, plenty of bowel movements.

Then last night! I was convinced it was happening, I had 3 contractions 5-6 minutes apart lasting about 80 seconds or so.

I've never had a labour contraction, I've had a MC in which I felt some kind of contraction when passing the pregnancy (I know this will not be on the same pain level as labour) but last night they were incredibly tense, reaching from my back to my stomach and into my thighs like a horrendous period pain.

Then nothing, nothing since. No waters or mucus plug either. I have full aches in my lower stomach and pelvis. Increased white CM (sorry if TMI)

Does this sound like labour is soon? Or is there every chance I can reach my ELCS date?

Thanks for reading!! Grin

Keep a log of when they are happening and call triage if you are worried.

At 36 weeks I had regular contractions and had to be admitted for observation. I was kept on a monitor for 24 hrs. They eventually slowed down by themselves and I was discharged home again.

I hope all goes well X x

@Quail15 I downloaded a contraction app because I was so sure that was going to be it haha

I've got my hospital bag ready, everything's prepared incase it happens. I just have a feeling that was a one off and I'm getting excited over nothing

Hope you make it! My c-section is in two weeks also. Was so relieved at my last midwife appointment when she said his head wasn’t engaged yet though! I’ve heard of people say the bowling ball between the legs thing but have never felt it so I don’t think he can be far enough down. If it was just a few contractions and there’s been nothing since there’s every chance baby will wait. Make sure you have your bags packed and ready to go just in case so you can still have your section early if need be. My main fear is I miss what the start of early labour feels like and end up getting to the hospital too late. My friend had a similar thing one night (but she also had some blood) then it all stopped but started again the following night when she got in bed and her waters went. She got her section in the end though. I’m avoiding eating after dinner time if I can avoid it just now, in case something was to happen and I needed my section during the night 🙈 good luck, if there’s no more signs today I think you’ll be absolutely fine

@sarah13xx that's my biggest fear, incase I get to hospital too late and will end up having to labour, it's quite risky for me so I'm really anxious over it. I've had nothing since other than lots of braxton hicks.
