Hi all, Afrid this thread is going to be a bit of a rant!!
To fill people in I had posted on monday about Migrains, have been to dr's now turns out my BP was raised and there are issues with my stress levels!!!!

Had a meeting at work today to discuss this (i'm a community care Assistant)as we have a verbably agressive and now physically (not to me but to other careres) client, to which i find stressful at the best of times but also don't want to put myself at risk!

My teamleaders attitude was "the other girls have to go in so why should you be expemt just because your pregnant". I'm not part of the union yet but have spoken to the union rep today and he said they can't do that they have to withdraw me! i now have to fight and argue this with the big boss later this week and could really do without the added stress!!!!
Why do employers have to be so damm flamming awkard!!!
Eurgh!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so annoyed!!!!!!

You need them to do you a risk assessment - they should have done one already.

kekouan · 27/11/2007 15:43

I thought all employers had to do a risk assessment to identify any risks that might affect pregnant women. If there is anything that might cause a problem then they have to reduce or remove the risk.

I can't find the proper details online (damnit!) but this is very similar to the form that was filled in for me at work.

I'm sure someone will come along soon who knows what they're talking about

missvicki · 27/11/2007 15:44

I know what they need to do, it's getting them to do it that is the problem! and the fact i have already got issues with BP and stress it's the last thing i need to get into an argument with them!

So frustrated!!!!!!!

Sorry I didn't read your post properly...

Unreasonable gits. No, YANBU, they should sort all this out for you. Point this out to the manager and refuse to do visits with anybody risky.

good luck!

can your doctor sign you off for a week or two, at least until your blood pressure drops a bit? Perhaps if you explain that the situation at work is adding to your stress.

Also could a union rep go with you to your meeting?

Do you think your employers are trying to push you into leaving or are they just a bit clueless?

missvicki · 27/11/2007 16:06

I didn't want the dr to sign me off sick because my company doesn't pay sick pay plus he said it wasn't really warrented at this time because i'm only 18weeks and there is no protien in my unrine it's just stress induced, and being off sick with no money at this time of year would probably make it worse!

As i posted above i'm not in the union yet and there is a clause that they can't help til i've been a member for 13 weeks but our rep has said to me i am in the right he just can't fight it for me!

Think it's a bit of both, i'm not local to cornwall and this is my second job down here and i am finding they don't like people who know their rights and make a fuss about it!! Employers like people who take all the C**p and keep quite!!
