Bump has gone?

I've just turned 16 weeks and suddenly I don't seem to have a bump. I am staying at relatives and packed clothes to try and disguise the pregnancy but don't think I need to now. Wondering if it's just diet as at home there was a lot of food and chocolate whereas here it's more a 'have some cheese and crackers' for lunch place. Anyone else experienced this with bloating disappearing?

And if I had miscarried without realising would the bump (womb) have shrunk? I haven't had any bleeding

It's probably just the bloating gone, or baby moving position. At 16 weeks if you had a missed miscarriage your bump wouldn't change size as everything is still in there.

GrimDamnFanjo · 28/07/2021 09:03

The baby will have moved position I reckon.

Moonflower12 · 28/07/2021 09:21

Why are you disguising the pregnancy?

custardbear · 28/07/2021 09:26

As the baby and the uterus grows it shifts upwards so assume this is what's happened here - and bloating lol 😆 ask your midwife next time you see her, I didn't notice personally but my tummy is a bit podgy 😉

You'd know if you miscarried - believe me!

KineticSand · 28/07/2021 09:32

It can happen if you get a bit dehydrated. Drink loads of water OP!

Oh fgs, that's none of your business whatsoever.
sleepyhoglet · 28/07/2021 10:41

@Moonflower12 don't want to tell people until past 20weeks

Tell people when you like @sleepyhoglet. No one else's business except for yours.
Agree with everyone else, it'll probably be movement, but speak to your midwife if you are worried or if anything feels different.

Not trying to worry anyone or imply AT ALL that's what's happened here - but - no, you wouldn't always know if you'd miscarried.

Thought I'd share this pic of my fluctuating bump which I find hilarious. I was super bloated at 19+1 & looked almost ready to pop, then within 5 days I was just back to my usual podge!

@DerbyshireMama I have to agree, I lost twins at 16 wks and had no idea. It's worth noting though that nothing changed, my bump was the same

Moonflower12 · 28/07/2021 17:20

@sleepyhoglet
Yes, tell everyone when you want to. I was worried you might be concealing the pregnancy (due to all sorts of reasons). and not getting the medical attention you should.

I would say in my experience that baby has turned round or similar.

sleepyhoglet · 28/07/2021 17:40

@JackJack84 yes that's exactly the sort of thing!

@Moonflower12 I've had my 12 week scan etc and DH knows. I work in a school and once DD finds out everyone will hence why trying to keep the amount of people knowing low as long as possible

@sleepyhoglet Mine came and went randomly. I’m 19+3 today and last Wednesday looked pregnant enough that people were offering me seats… on Friday I looked absolutely normal. Today I just look a bit pudgy.

Combination of baby moving and bloat, I guess!
