40+4. Today I've had a sweep, been for a pregnancy massage, been out for a curry, walked up a steep hill & had sex (although not sure how we managed the sex after the curry tbh!). Surely after all that things should get moving soon?!

Anyone at a similar stage in need of some solidarity?

Have you tried expressing your breasts? Could help baby come along and if you order some syringes you can collect the milk too which comes in handy after the birth! (Expect really tiny amounts tho).
Good luck!

Me, was just looking through for some support! I'm 41+1 the midwife today said the baby's head isn't engaged (it was last week) so I'm feeling really disheartened and like I've got no time left to go into labour spontaneously (induction booked for Saturday)

Hello @EdithGrantham! That's exactly how I've been feeling since my sweep yesterday when the midwife said that my cervix is still closed at the top. Is there any chance you can delay the induction? I have a c-section booked for 41+6 so also feeling a little bit against the clock and I don't think it's helpful, so I've been considering asking for it to be pushed back. Sending you birthing vibes for this evening!

Thanks for the tip @SouthwestSis, I have tried that but it doesn't seem to do much, sometimes I get tiny drops of milk but it definitely doesn't trigger any contractions or anything. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?!

Yes, I asked my midwife if it was necessary to book the induction and she said that either way I'd have to go in to be monitored so I can discuss not going ahead with it when I'm there. Can I ask why you've got a C-section booked?

Touslesfromages · 28/07/2021 00:27

Well that's something at least, fingers crossed for you. I have a c-section booked because I'm a VBAC and induction didn't sound like a very appealing option in the circumstances, so I decided if push comes to shove I'd rather just go straight for a planned section. However I'm really keen to have this one naturally (didn't even get to go into labour with my first), so now I'm thinking of asking them to try breaking my waters before going ahead with the section.

Is this your first? The uncertainty is what's killing me, I'm trying so hard to relax but I'm so restless this evening!

Ah I see, hopefully things will start moving for you soon! Yes first for me, hanging on to the statistic that 85% of first timers go 10 days over. I was feeling ok until I got the news that the baby's head is no longer engaged, feels like such a backwards step Sad and the uncertainty is definitely the worst, I don't like lack of control at the best of times!
