I am just curious to know why bugaboos are so popular, I have already bought my travel system so I am not interested in buying one, I just want to know what all the hype is about thats all! (And why they cost an arm and a leg!)

I saw a bug on ebay once with burberry poshbug covers. Fantastic! (Wish I'd saved it... DH and I affectionately called it the chavaboo!)

preggersagain · 28/11/2007 14:29

its the chavaboo!! poshbugs-uk.com/poshbugs_images/large/Burberry1.JPG

ScottishMummy · 28/11/2007 14:39

Gawd i got the wet boak looking at that checked monstrosity

Piffle · 28/11/2007 14:45

I bought mine for one reason only
had weak wrist, needed reversible pram, that I could push one handed with a 15 kg 5 yr odl on a buggy board with.
Now dd is at school I've flogged it

ScottishMummy · 28/11/2007 14:49

i love my Bugaboo esp after a quinny

malfoy · 28/11/2007 14:51

I love mine too but would never had bought one new.

Misdee · 28/11/2007 14:53

i have had one. it is great and i wish i'd had it when dd3 was a lot younger. she outgrew it earlier this year, so sold it on for what i paid for it. so i got to use it for almost a year and not lose any money on it. mine was ex-display.

they are light, easy to fold, good size carrycot, big basket, rear facing etc etc.

but if i had to choose between the bug and mountain buggy, then the MB wins for me as the bug wasnt that great on beach/woods.

Trix11 · 28/11/2007 15:02

I just had to have one - got it, hated it and sold it a week later on ebay. What a nightmare trying to fold to put into the car - might be ok if you dont have to dismantle it - forget it if you do

malfoy · 28/11/2007 15:04

I have NEVER folded mine. Trying to find the instructions so I can sell it.

beeper · 28/11/2007 17:00

I am not being funny but the ones with the white wheels look like those big pushchairs that you put older disabled children in.

kerala · 28/11/2007 17:13

Think bugaboos look lovely and comfy for the baby and maybe better if you dont use public transport much. However living in central-ish London not sure they are such a good idea. Lots of my mum friends have them and struggle. They take up too much space on buses and are abit heavy to bump up and down train steps. In fact 2 of my NCT friends bought them at vast expense but ended up buying lightweight Mcclarens and using those everyday instead - abit galling to waste £600. So depends on your lifestyle what buggy to get I guess.

Piffle · 28/11/2007 19:18

I found it a piece of cake to unfold once I'd done it a few times
DP never could get to grips with it

Santasmissyontheside · 28/11/2007 19:30

i think the quinny buzz is worse to fold!!

as for the bee's white wheels my dh said it looked like a citreon 2cv and refused to consider it

NorthernLurker · 28/11/2007 20:22

I have good folding days and bad folding days - bt then I hardly ever fold it so it doesn't bother me.

melontum · 28/11/2007 20:29

Do the small front wheels wear out fast on the Bugaboo? I always thought they just didn't look very durable or sturdy.

MamaMaiasaura · 28/11/2007 22:13

bugaboos chavvy? What bollox. We have bought the Gecko, seems absolutely fab and looking forward to using it. Light, easy to fold, simple design, not too big, multi purpose and with good warranty. We looked at loads of others and none matched.

With ds1 I went for the whole graco type travel system.. NEVER again, heavy, bulky and arkward.

Santasmissyontheside · 28/11/2007 22:24

yuk graco! glad you got the bugaboo!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 29/11/2007 08:01

melontum - ds is now 2.2
we've used our from everyday since he was born and i walk miles with it. the front wheels have a few nicks from going over rocks and stuff but they are still working great.
We've also had a puncture and because it's so easy to get the wheels off the chassis it was easy to change.

RGPargy · 29/11/2007 08:29

Haven't read all the posts in this thread but had to say that personally i think the bugaboo looks HORRIBLE!!! It's got really horrible tiny front wheels and looks, like hunker said, friggin' FUGLY!!!!

But then i prefer pushchairs with nice big chunky wheels. If it had the same wheels at the front as it has at the back it might look nicer!

lockets24 · 29/11/2007 08:31

having used on at work i can safely say they are a nightmare, hopeless around smaller shops and terrible trying to get in the car! there are much easier and FAR cheaper prams/buggies out there!!

x

RGPargy · 29/11/2007 08:35

Not that i've used mine yet, but my Britax Travel System cost me £170 altogether, including the car seat! Bargain!

LoveAngelGabriel · 29/11/2007 08:37

Bugaboos and all those trendy buggies are so played out now. Practicality over supposed style, I say.

ScottishMummy · 29/11/2007 08:48

bugaboo does not take up anymore space on a bus than many other prams, i travel london buses daily and bug fits in beside other prams and behind the yellow bar too, i saw someone unable to get a quinny on bus along side other pram - quinny too big. talkin bout quinny i had one and they are rubbish

Santasmissyontheside · 29/11/2007 08:59

me too i had the buzz and the bug beats that any day and someone mentioned big wheels well you can buy the snow wheels now which look pretty cool. looks lovely when in prma mode

meep · 29/11/2007 09:15

I'm scared to go out today with my bug - yikes!
