Bugaboo - what's the big deal?

I am just curious to know why bugaboos are so popular, I have already bought my travel system so I am not interested in buying one, I just want to know what all the hype is about thats all! (And why they cost an arm and a leg!)

so what do u do to show off then- go on about chavs and teen mums - mmmmmm nice

NorthernLurker · 27/11/2007 18:34

if by un-pc you mean'potentially offensive' then - in my opinion yes you did - in that I see no evidence as to why it should be considered that mothers under the age of twenty pick their pram based on spending the most and matching up with the celebs. Therefore I think it's unfair to single them out as you did.

You may be right about some people's motivation in general - I can only say that was not the case for me - or indeed anyone on this site - I'm sure we're all far too sensible for that

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 19:46

chavs and teenage mums are you serious! whats wrong with young mums???? i was 20 when dd1 was born is that unacceptable

NorthernLurker · 27/11/2007 19:49

Hi santasmissetc - I was a similar age to you when dd1 was born - lots older now though - but I own a bugaboo - it's a miracle I can walk down the street without having things thrown at me

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 19:51

i own a bugaboo. i dont see what the big deal is??

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 19:52

lol at santamissy etc

Pannacotta · 27/11/2007 19:56

Isnt it also that you have the choice of having it forward or rear facing and it is light? I have a Loola, but that and most other rear facing buggies are quite heavy to push, esp with a toddler in, whereas the Bug is quite light...

NorthernLurker · 27/11/2007 19:57

Santasmissy etc (sorry too long to type - glad you lol) - it seems that those of us own Bugs - think of it as a good pram we enjoy using. Amongst the rest of the pram-owning world there is some strong anti-bug feeling - I don't understand it but obviously the Bug (and us the owners) offends some people - so duck and cover

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 20:03

jealous maybe?? yummy mummy? bugaboo is the way to go!!

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 20:04

deep breath all you bugaboo haters repeat S-l-o-w-l-y
it is just a pram
now go unclench, and expend energy bellyaching about something that actually matters eg not prams

because lets face it whether yer pram microwaves the dinner, faces rear, sideways, or back it is actually only a mode of transport for 4 years

finally if u hate the bugaboo this beauty will make you hurlorbit stroller...coming to a high street near you...sooner than you think...probably

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 20:09

ooooooohhhhh

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 20:13

you likey the orbit

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 20:23

you know me!! bugaboo to stay though

mumzyof2 · 27/11/2007 20:42

I have to say that I was a single mum at 19 (3 years ago) and already new what the Bugaboo was. I was by NO means a chav, or a scratter or any of those things, but so what if I was??
I bought a second hand Graco travel system from a car boot for 25 pounds, as it was all I could afford, and my sons father in no way wanted to help me or his son out.
Three years later, I am expecting again, have found a wonderful partner, and I am certainly not poor anymore. So could somebody please give me a good reason why I should not buy the pram I have wanted for 3 years, when I have struggled for money for so long, why I shouldnt have something I feel I deserve, apart from the fact that I am a young mum - therefore a chav perhaps?? And that it would only be to "show off because everybody knows how much they cost".
Im sorry, but its a pram, there are no threads like this over nappies, or baby clothes.

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 20:48

mumzyof2 - yes agree it is just a pram. up to folk to decide how they spend their own money. I've never read a thread going on and bleeding in the same style about maclaren eg "there are tons of maclaren i saw 4 in a cafe the other day" there are more maclaren on my high st then any other brand - and you know what i dont care. just a pram after all

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 20:51

mum join me as a chav young mum and proudly display your bugaboo

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 20:52

oh and your same age as me

mumzyof2 · 27/11/2007 21:03

I havnt got one, its a toss between a chameleon and a m&p's pilko, but all this pram-ist talk wound me up.Am now off to don my complete Burberry wardrobe

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 21:04

lol and dress you dc in top to toe!! i have had both and prefer the bugaboo as baby can still face you when in seat unit as the m&p can only be rear facing with the car seat and pram

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 21:09

oh will u lookey likey this Look at burberry all the way baby

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 21:12

i was just looking for that!! but isnt she too old??

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 21:14

lol been awhile since she was a teenager, the good ole day intacts when she still had a septum

ScottishMummy · 27/11/2007 21:15

in fact when she had a septum i mean

Santasmissyontheside · 27/11/2007 21:19

lol

PuppyDogEyes · 27/11/2007 21:28

its seems to be the lightest and most versatile option. our life style is very varied and nothing else seemed to do all the things we wanted out of a pram/pushchair.

Also every other pram made me look and feel like a 12year old (i'm small and not very strong).

I'm getting a 2008 cam.
after spending ages agonising over a pram/buggy purchase, i found some really good offers out at the moment which meant it only cost an extra £110 than the equivalent cheaper option i was going to get.

i have been so careful everywhere else, its the only splash i'e made and half will be paid by family and friends.

Once i buy a pram i really never want to have to shop for one ever again.

(but if baby really hates it - resale will be easy)
