Heartburn hell

Hi all!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any home remedies for heartburn? Ideally I'm trying to stay away form my prescribed omeprazole as I don't like to take anything whilst pregnant but oh my gosh.. it's having my life every 5 minutes and each spike is worst than the last so I'm seriously considering taking it.

I'm 23+1 ☺️

Tums were life savers for me!

Have you tried milk? I lived off it from 20 something weeks to when it died down at about 33 weeks

Apparently eating almonds is supposed to help, otherwise gaviscon, rennie’s etc. I hate taking unnecessary things when pregnant but I have to take my omeprazole otherwise I’m just too ill 😩😭

Just made a thread couple of days ago about exactly this! It is absolutely awful..

I'm taking boots gaviscon and its mafe and a difference.. But it was awful at 22 weeks till now. I'm 24 weeks and it has magically gone better.

Hooe you feel better soon x

Do you have any particular triggers? I realised my morning glass of juice is setting mine off.

Gaviscon all the way here, the peppermint tablets. 23 weeks today.

God, its hell, isn't it!?

I always got it in the middle of the night, I'd swig gaviscon out of the bottle.

There's absolutely no reason to not take Omeprazole. Don't suffer for no reason.

Also milk is not a good idea. Causes an increase in stomach acid due to high fat content. The pink bottle of gaviscon is your friend.

Antacids help briefly, full fat milk works longer. I find it's really bad if I have sugary things so minimising that helps a lot.

Managed to not have it too bad until the back end this time despite baby being very big. Thankfully only got a couple of weeks left to eviction day as booked in for elcs at 39wk. It was horrendous when I had twins.

I tried to hold off from taking omeprazole which I majorly regret now. I wasn’t sleeping, I was waking up with acid in my mouth, sore throat from all the acid, not able to sleep lying down. Took one tablet and slept straight through the night.

Everything set it off, even things I didn’t suspect like dairy so I couldn’t even alter my diet.
