12 week scan at 9.5 weeks?

Hello

Just wondering if anyone been booked in this early? A quick Google indicates the scan should be from 10 to 14 weeks.

I have a long cycle which using my LMP would put me 2 weeks ahead of where I am. I'm yet to have my first midwife appointment so that won't be on record.

I've no desire to delay things, but just wondering if I should gently question the date or if it won't make any real difference...

Please do share if yours was scheduled this promptly 😊

With DD my scan was scheduled for 9 weeks and I was told by midwife to rearrange it for closer to 12 (think I had it at 11 weeks in the end). We did know my dates and gestation then though as I had been having regular early scans from 5 weeks due to repeated miscarriages

They will just get you back in a few weeks for nuchal measurements if your before 11 weeks as they can't do it.
Up to you if you rearrange or not to later sometimes its nice just to get the extra scan. That's what they did when I had my DS also long unpredictable cycles

I knew I was 2 weeks behind where my LMP put me too, luckily I had an early scan at the hospital and they told me to change the date and I had it at 12 weeks instead of what would have been 9. It is a dating scan though and the point is to see how far along you are. If it's too early for all the proper checks they should just have you back again a few weeks later.

We thought we were 12 weeks at the dating scan but turned out to be 9.5 weeks, so they just arranged for us to come back at 12 weeks for another scan to do the screening and confirm a due date etc :) was nice as we got to see the baby twice. Had the reassurance at the first scan of a heart beat and healthy baby :)

They add a couple of weeks on from when you originally think your due date is because they date from your last period so is it actually 9 or 11 weeks based on your EDD?

This will be me. I'm having my 12 week scan when I'll be around 10 weeks. I did let my midwife know about my ridiculously long cycles and that I was worried it would be too early but she insisted I take the scan and let them call me back for any measurements.

Thank you for all the replies.

@girlmom21 Thank you, I had counted the two weeks you add. Its just the assumption is that you have a 28 cycle and ovulate CD14, I ovulated at CD28 so I'm behind where someone else with a shorter cycle would be.

Hi @KitchenLemon nice to know there are other long cycle girls out there confusing people! Hope it goes well for you, pop back and let me know Smile

I think I might just leave it until I'm due to meet my midwife and mention it then. I haven't had any early scans or anything so I wouldn't at all mind going at 9.5 then again a couple of weeks later if needs be.
