How long will 6wk miscarriage last?

Hi,

First post for me! I started going through a miscarriage on Wednesday (4 days ago). I was 6 weeks at the time, but I'm really hating having to wear the sanitary towels all the time! I don't usually use them and feel like I'm walking about in scratchy nappies - any idea how long it will last? 1 week? 2? It seems to be really light, then suddenly heavier again, but no more than a normal period for me.

We already have a 14 month old DS, so I'm feeling ok now (after 1 bad day when it started) and we're hoping to start trying again after the bleeding stops.

I'm back for a second scan on August 3 to see if it's fully passed or if something has magically appeared in the sac (it won't have)

Also, sorry if pregnancy is the wrong category Thanks

TIA.

I think it can vary hugely for everyone. I miscarried at 10 weeks and only bled for 6 days, then I miscarried at 5-6 weeks and bled for 9 days. Hopefully it won't be too much longer for you Flowers

So sorry for your loss Thanks I had a mc at 7 weeks last year & the bleeding lasted around 2 weeks but it wasn't massively heavy. I totally get where you're coming from regarding pads though. I never use them & having to wear one made me so uncomfortable. It was like a constant reminder of what had happened. Hopefully yours will be over soon.

For me it was always two weeks.

Condolences on your loss
Most of mine that early were just a bit longer than a normal monthly, 1 week max. If not all "products" have passed you do get prolonged bleeding, I had it for over 2 weeks with my 1st at 12wk. I had an infection and once I'd had a course of antibiotics the bleeding finally stopped 4 weeks after it all started.

My 3 have been quite different. 6 week mc bleeding lasted about 2 weeks, 4 week mc lasted a week and 10 week mc lasted 4 weeks but I also hemorrhaged so recovery was always going to be longer.
I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

Hello ladies, firstly I'm so sorry to hear of your losses ❤
I really hope you don't mind me popping on this post, I'm concerned I may be miscarrying

I have bled mostly brown, occasionally pink and on some occasions bright red for around 1 week now, it isn't heavy (only when I wipe) I think I am around 6 weeks pregnant, tests are still a strong positive so I'm trying not to think the worst. I bled on one occasion with my dd1 at around 17 weeks

I guess I'm just wondering if I should hold out and see what happens

Thanks in advance xx

@lelrx give your GP a call and get a referral to EPAU, they usually offer scans from 6wk so can give you some answers. Go to A&E if you have extremely heavy bleeding or an excessive amount of pain.
Keep holding on to hope and good luck.

Hey love, I’m so sorry for your loss!
I had an MC around 7/8 weeks (when you’re bleeding for so long, it’s hard to tell when it really “happens”). I bled for about two and a half weeks. I feel you in the sanitary pads - they are a nightmare and so irritating to the skin!

I hope this doesn’t gross anyone out, but I really couldn’t take it with the pads. Once bleeding got light enough that it just required a pantry liner rather than a full pad, I just decided to sacrifice cotton undies for a week or so.
I hope you feel better soon. If your bleeding feels like it’s getting heavier, call your doctor!

I was thinking period pants, but I won't be able to monitor the flow very well??

I had a MC at the same gestation and bled for at least 6 weeks, in fact it may have been more like 7. I kept calling the EPU to tell them but they kept telling me it was normal 🤷‍♀️ Told my doctor as well but no one was particularly interested. Oh well.

@PlantLadyMum hope you’re ok 🌺 x

So sorry for your loss. I miscarried at 7 weeks at the end of May and bled for 10 days. Then it took 5 weeks to get me period again after I'd stopped bleeding (my cycle is normally 26 days).

Hope everything is ok x

Just an update - my scan today showed no further growth so I'm having an MVA tomorrow... and they don't sound fun!
