2/5 Engaged

Just got back from my 38 week midwife appointment and she has told me that baby is 2/5 engaged. I know that this doesn't mean that anything is imminent but I just wondered how long it took others for labour to start after they were told baby's head was engaged? Also - Have any FTM's experienced baby unengaging after they were engaged?

Hi, I'm a FTM and was told at 32w she was 3/5 engaged and then a week ago (35w) that she isn't engaged at all any more. I was confused but midwife said it does happen a lot apparently x

@MrsJones92 Thanks for your reply Smile So strange as I asked my midwife today if it’s normal for a baby to unengage and she said it can happen but not as often with your first baby as everything is a little tighter. With a second baby there is more room for baby to wriggle around and shift positions because things are that bit looser. When they tell you baby’s head is engaged you can’t help but just think that things are imminent lol Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 I know it can be very confusing! My midwife said often they will engage and sit there for weeks but it isn't anything to worry about if they do disengage and engage again. My baby still seems to be all over the place in terms of positioning so goodness knows what's going on it there! 😂 x
