I'm 5 weeks pp on Wednesday. My incision healing well apart from a small 1cm area on the right hand side
I still have a swollen 'ledge' above the incision, it has got more swollen the last few days - is this a normal part of healing or should it just be going down by now?

Could be fine but could also be early sign of infection. If it starts to weep, smell funky or look red and angry then it'll be infected. If you are still seeing the midwife ask them to take a look, if not may be worth asking the GP to look at it.

I wouldn’t expect that after 5 weeks; might be worth a call to the GP to check what they say.

Absolutely not. Same thing happened to me and I ignored it thinking it was just fluid or swelling standard post op.

Turned out I ignored cellulitis for two weeks and was about a day away from sepsis. Internal stitches went and all sorts. I only went and got it checked when it was really bad.

Get it checked ASAP.

Yep, it's looking like it's infected as it just seems to have burst 🥵😢 on the phone to 111 now
