HCG blood test understanding

Hi Ladies,

Today I did my pregnancy blood test which showed to be a positive of 9.1 but the problem is I am week 4 so it should be a lot higher. According to the report the range should be between 9.5 - 750 IU/L.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this and everything turned out well in the end? I want and need to feel excited but I’m worried it might be a chemical pregnancy.

Any support, advice, good stories would really help.

X

Are they repeating it to see if it doubles? That would tell you more.

@3womeninaboat yes I’m going to reap on Monday and it needs to be 30+ to be progressing. I’m just nervous as it should be a lot higher so want to feel reassured that other women have had success stories with low HCG. X

I've been told in the past that HCG levels vary so much that there really isn't a normal level. As PP said the important thing is whether the levels are doubling every 48 hours. If another blood test hasn't been arranged I'd ask for one if I were you. Good luck.

@ItsMeantToBe thank you. The levels actually dropped from 16.3 to 9.1 so it’s declining. My first test got lost and when found they run the test. Unfortunately for me it looks like a chemical pregnancy. :(

Sorry to hear it Flowers.

So sorry to hear that. I've been through a CP before, it's so cruel. Take care of yourself.

@ItsMeantToBe @3womeninaboat thank you both for your kind words. @ItsMeantToBe, what was the following period like? I’ve been told it will heavy but I’m scared it might be like a m/c which I experienced in 2018. That was awful as I had to do through it naturally at week 9, so much blood which still traumatises me to this day x

I only bled for 3 days, when a normal period lasts 5 days for me. Hope it's not too awful for you.

@ItsMeantToBe I hope not too but I’m just fearing what happened last time. Thank you x
