I'm not paying £20 for a maternity swimming costume!

But, at the same time, I'm about to start offending people if I keep going swimming in my normal swimming costume.

Where can I find the cheapest maternity swimming costume in the world?

I could probably even cope with second hand. Is that dreadful?

Next do one for £12 iirc.

or there are always loads on ebay, some BNWT!

pooka · 25/11/2007 20:27

Not sure if can help. But I had the most gorgeous maternity costume from figleaves. Was pricey though, but knocked socks off the others I had.

LedodgyDickinson · 25/11/2007 20:28

What size are you after? I have a size 18 figleaves one which i've never used because I didn't end up needing it when I went on holiday and at 34 weeks pregnant have yet to go swimming. I'd sell it for a tenner if you happen to be a size 18..

DANCESwithHughJackman · 25/11/2007 20:28

If you are size 16 I have an only worn once 'blooming marvellous' one. I couldn't go swimming when I was pg because of a back problem. I could sell it to you for much less than £20!

DaisyNightingale · 25/11/2007 20:29

HERE, but it's gone up from when I bought mine last year!

spackcat · 25/11/2007 20:29

Not at all - ebay might be your best bet, you might even get a new one cheap there.

BroccoliSpears · 25/11/2007 20:32

Oooh, ebay! Duh. Will go and look.

Will also check out the Next website.

Pooka, I do agree that swimming costumes are worth spending money on if you have it. Unfortunately I don't at the moment!

Thank you LeDodgy and Dances - am a size 12 / 14 so will pass on your kind offers, but if anyone else has a bargain perhaps we could do business?

Good Luck.

LyraSilvertongue · 25/11/2007 20:35

I wore a normal one in a bigger than usual size. Don't think I offended anyone in it. I went swimming the day I went into labour with DS2 two days overdue (I was enormous).

fishie · 25/11/2007 20:37

i got one in mothercare sale rail for £5. it was bright pink and orange so i was not easy to miss in the pool.

Princesspowersparkle · 25/11/2007 20:48

I just wore my normal bikini but with a cheap maternity vest top over the top. That way I didn't have to spend loads on a mat cossie and I was nicely covered up.

BroccoliSpears · 25/11/2007 20:52

Oh bugger!
In my excitement I've bid on a size 10. I'm winning. And it finishes in just over an hour so I don't suppose I can retract my bid.

Your thread reminded me...

I have a brand new with tags still on Jojo Maman swimsuit (this one) in my drawer that I never wore when pregnant (ds is 3 now , and it reminds me of my rather sedentary pregnancy). It's a size medium (which I think is 12/14), and yours for a fiver if you want it (and don't get lumbered with the size 10....)

Or anyone else for that matter.

insywinsyspider · 26/11/2007 09:07

i got mine second hand from ebay - ok so people may think thats gross but I got one for £5 including p&p (now after a tankini from ebay for my birth pool) I've have a look if you don't mind the idea

Didylicious · 26/11/2007 16:24

www.vertbaudet.co.uk had one in their summer sale for about £5!
here

ClaphamLauren · 26/11/2007 16:30

DANCES - How much would you sell yours for? What is it like? I am normally a 12/14 but I'm so massive at only 25 weeks I think a 16 would probably do a job for me!

moocowme · 26/11/2007 18:04

bought mine on ebay for £3.50. wore it once. much more comfy in a bikini.

violeta · 26/11/2007 19:20

Hi gladbag,
I'd love to take your swimming costume if broccolispears doesn't want it (I'd feel guilty otherwise as she started the thread!). I'll check back in a while.
Thanks.

futurity · 26/11/2007 19:27

this thread has made me find mine which I loved but again probably didn't wear much considering I've had it for two pregnancies I must have worn it...errr..5 times lol! Its a Blooming Marvellous size 12 if anyone is interested!

DANCESwithHughJackman · 26/11/2007 20:29

Oh well it's this one so I guess £10 incl. p&p?

BroccoliSpears · 26/11/2007 20:46

Well I won the bloomin size 10 one from ebay . That's one thigh covered...

Have just ordered one for a fiver from Vertbaudet. Lovely! Thank you Didylicious!

I just used a tankini from BHS for 20 quid, it did me for a year after having DD1 and all through pregnancy with DD2, I just pulled the shorts up and the top down a bit mroe often!

My friend came swimming at 7 months pregnant in a bikini, and looked amazing (bitch)

gladbag · 26/11/2007 21:13

violeta - it's yours if you want it (although I'd check out the vertbaudet link first incase that's better..)

If you're still interested email me on
ms bumble @ bt internet . com (no spaces), and we'll take it from there

JackieNo · 26/11/2007 21:16

I've got a black Next maternity one, size 20, only been worn a couple of times. V plain, keyhole back. CAT me, if anyone wants it FFP.

BABYBUFF205 · 18/01/2010 14:17

Pay for stuff on e bay is criminal as most of the items on there are toot to say the least ! Most people pay £40.00 for a decent costume i found a good site although not many maternity costumes in my size seems good : www.motherwearclothing.co.uk
