When did you start buying for baby?

At what point in your pregnancy did you start buying for the baby?

I can't remember exactly how far along I was but it was always after the twenty week scan.

I remember with DC2 we went directly from the 20 week scan to the shops and bought a couple of baby grows. It was Christmas time though so we were planning on shopping anyway. We picked up a few bits with our shopping slowly until quite near the end.

Then we left the big items (car seat, cot and pram) until I was in the last trimester.

3rd trimester :)

I started around 16/17 weeks and I'm 23 weeks now and I've got everything already 🤣🤣

I also started really after 12 week scan and results from screening came back. Had felt like it was stupidly early afterwards.. but my way if dealing with stressful situations is being overly prepared and up until recently my fear of being pregnant and the future has definitely ran away with me lol. I've even done most of my Christmas shopping.. (baby is due right before Christmas)

I've got most of the big things I need either through buying them or friends offering them. They're not all here at the house though..

Looking at it now.. I guess it takes some of the financial stress off as we're earning well at the moment but I'm the main earner in the house and we income will drop by £2,000 a month whilst I'm on maternity so I feel I now have time to save up so that I can have longer off work for maternity. I'm currently 18 weeks.

After 20 week scan.

I started researching at about 12 weeks but I’m 26 weeks now and all I have is a pram that we bought on marketplace and a crib that we were given by a friend. Planning to get purchasing over the summer. To be honest, whilst I had HG I couldn’t really face buying anything.

16 weeks once I’d found out their sexes. Had everything by the time I was 32 weeks which was lucky as I was practically unable to move at the end!

Little bits before hand but was the odd baby grow or socks that I couldn't resist

Started getting bits after 20 week scan...sorting old stuff out, sourcing second hand necessities. Now I'm 36 weeks and I've got everything - just need to sort the house and bedroom!

I'm on DS2 so I had all the big stuff saved from DS1. I've bought the odd thing but I'm 35 weeks now and finally "ready" for his arrival

Actually started buying things before I was pregnant. I hadn''t even met the potential Dad. But I was feeling so desperately wanting a baby, that I allowed myself to buy the odd bits, like bibs, socks.

After 20 weeks with the first but that was just small clothes etc I waited until 30 weeks + to get the buggy, cot etc
27 weeks now with second pregnancy which is high risk. My sister has bought the baby a toy bunny but that’s it as it’s been such a rollercoaster to get to this point i think I’m worried if I buy things it’ll all go wrong! Not that we need much second time round although baby is a different gender to DC 1. X

16 weeks tentatively starting buying some second hand bits ... clothes mainly! But not much at all, I'll probably wait until after 20 weeks

I started actively buying after 3 months once we announced it to everyone and I knew the pregnancy is going well.

With DC1 it was about 22/23w. But we borrowed a lot of stuff, the big stuff, and didn't pick it up from friends until I was about 34w.

This time round, having given everything back we borrowed last time, I'm currently 29w with DC2 and haven't bought a thing yet. Prioritising car seat and Next2me crib - shopping trip planned for next weekend (or the weekend after).
