Ectopic

I have just found out that I am pregnant roughly 4/5 weeks. I am currently experiencing pain in my right side of my belly and my right shoulder tip is painful along with bleeding. The bleeding isn't anything major though.

I have just been told this could be ectopic, what do I do. As it is nearly midnight.

I haven't even seen a midwife yet as I have only just found out about my pregnancy?

As I just said on the other post call 111. Ectopic can be very dangerous for you. X

If the shoulder tip is painful ring 999 - sorry to hear this. Please tell them and let them deal with it immediately.

DisposableNamechange · 14/07/2021 23:35

If the shoulder tip is related it means there’s internal bleeding. A&E.

(Equally it could be completely unrelated, but this is one of those better safe than sorry situations.)

I nearly died of an ectopic and didn’t know anything about it until I collapsed. A&E. Midnight or not.

Just come across this after commenting your other thread, please do see someone ASAP, it's really, really not worth leaving to chance. Please trust what we're saying. I really hope it's nothing serious and is just a false alarm, but it's not worth the risk. The sooner you can catch an ectopic pregnancy the better x

My partner is calling for me now. What does it mean by ruptured?

I'm exhausted and I just need to sleep. So he is calling for me x

@Angelxx99 I'm not at all a medical professional so this is my layman's understanding of it -

So in ectopic pregnancies, the embryo is implanted and growing in your Fallopian tube. As it grows it puts pressure on your Fallopian tube and cause it to essentially burst (for lack of a better/more medical term). This obviously damages the Fallopian tube but also can lead to a whole range of other really serious problems as a result of the rupture.

The earlier an ectopic pregnancy is caught, the better chance there is of reducing the damage caused.

I'm glad your partner is ringing, I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing, I know this must be very stressful and scary x

Get seen and it won’t come to that. I know it’s terrifying.

Chica1990 · 15/07/2021 12:46

How did it go @Angelxx99? I hope you were seen

SillyBry · 15/07/2021 13:47

@Angelxx99 I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope you have been seen.
I had an ectopic last year and my first symptom was low level bleeding. It was more than spotting, but less than a period. But it was continuous.
I had a little bit of one sided pain, but shoulder pain isn’t as common as you think. Other symptoms are bowel pain/rectal pressure, cramps etc.
I would push to be seen ASAP due to the bleeding and pain - I was dismissed as miscarrying, which meant I was left until it ruptured and I ended up with a tummy full of blood and having surgery to have my Fallopian tube removed. Please, please learn from my mistake of assuming them saying it’s ok means it is ok. Get a scan to check everything out!
