Anyone else freaked out by 4D scans?

I went for a private scan to find out the gender. During the scan the sonographer also showed me a 4D scan and I have to admit it’s completely freaked me out. I can’t make the face out properly and it just looks like a weird freaky rabbit to me and I can’t unsee it. Anyone else react like this to the 4D scans?

They offered me it and I said please no 🙈 I don’t want to see his face until I see him. I’m very interested in finding everything else out about him but for some reason seeing him in 4D is just not something I want at all

DappledThings · 13/07/2021 22:20

Every one I've ever seen has looked totally freaky. I wouldn't ever want one.

SweetSunflowerBoo · 13/07/2021 23:40

Ha!! I thought I was weird and the only one who didn't like seeing my baby like that but I absolutely FREAKED when the sonographer gave me a 4D view at my gender scan!

I literally went "oh no turn it back!!!" As soon as I saw it and they had to turn it back to the black and white regular scan 😂😂

It was just too weird for me to wrap my head around. I've got the 3 pics of him in the 4d but I tend not to look at them as much as the black and white ones

Haha!! Yeah I don’t like them at all. At a private scan the lady was all ‘and NOW let’s see baby in 4D!!’ I think expecting us to gasp in wonder. And I just thought ‘ugh no put the black and white back on, it’s hideous!’BlushGrin

riotlady · 14/07/2021 00:13

Yeah they always look like a lasagna to me

Peach01 · 14/07/2021 00:19

Yes I hate them. They're weird and unnatural. I don't need to see my baby or anyone else's baby clearly until it's ready to come out.

Velvetscrunchy · 14/07/2021 06:57

Lol @riotlady!! That is exactly it!
Thank god I’m not alone.

I can see a rabbit’s face on my baby;
2 large droopy ears (like wtf??) and a button nose and now I’m just completely freaked out at what she looks like. I wish they’d have asked if I wanted to see before suddenly bringing it up on the screen!

Hate them 😂 Need to remember to tell them not to show me this weekend!

The really creep me out they look like bog mummies to me Blush

I loved my 4d scan at 28 weeks and thought baby's face looked cute. DP enjoyed it too. I've even framed a scan printout while waiting for them to be born.

Moominmiss · 14/07/2021 14:19

When the sonographer flipped to 4d during the 16 week scan it looked extremely freaky. But the one at 29 weeks was incredible! Just looks like a photo of a baby! I love it!

lockdownbabyx · 14/07/2021 15:01

@Velvetscrunchy I had this too at a private scan when I was 17 weeks. Me and partner joked that he look like Voldemort 😂. It's hard at that stage as they're so skinny and not fully formed yet. I don't think il bother having another 4D scan though, will keep it as a surprise ☺️

FluffMagnet · 14/07/2021 15:08

Christ, I still remember the horror of my colleague proudly presenting her 4D scan photos, and one genuinely looked as though the baby had been shot in the face with this massive gaping hole. Nothing wrong with the baby, but everything wrong with the scan! Have therefore never been tempted to see my DCs in 4D prior to birth!

SillyBry · 14/07/2021 15:47

Me!!! I've avoided them in both pregnancies as the pictures creep me right out! Everyone says how cute they are, but they just creep me out I'm afraid!!

I'm so relieved I found this thread because it feels good that im not alone.
I didn't want and have never wanted a 4D scan but my MIL really wanted one and offered to pay and so we agreed, i wasn't prepared for just how strong my reaction would be to seeing her.
She was monstrous. No other way of describing the image, I burst into tears and haven't looked at the photos since. I've literally felt like the worlds most terrible mother since
