Hi,

Just had my 35 week check with the midwife, she isn't my regular midwife as she's gone off sick.

I had a previous giant baby on the 100th centile, so far through this pregnancy baby has been measuring on the 90th centile.

Today baby is on the 50th centile (from bump measurement) she took my weight and I've gained 8lb this pregnancy. She tested my urine and it has traces of leukocytes, glucose and protein. My blood pressure was all good.

Baby is breech, I'm having an ELCS due to having one previously and this time I have a breech baby and placenta previa

Should I be worried? My midwife didn't seem concerned but I have a feeling something is wrong and I don't know why. Ive been having period pains but she said that's completely normal.

I think I'm just looking for some reassurance.

I thought if you went down from one line to another you were usually sent for a growth scan? 🤔 I was sent for one just because I was measuring small. Is the urine not also a concern if there’s protein in it? How are you feeling? Do you have swelling or anything? If you think somethings not right definitely phone up the hospital and get checked. Hope everything is okay. I’m 36 weeks and haven’t been that impressed with the midwife care I’ve had so far, feel like you hardly get any checks

I've just checked my notes, my BP was 130/70 and I had:

Leukocytes +++
Glucose +
Protein trace

Ring triage and tell them about your appointment and just say you have a feeling something isn't right always trust your gut, they'd rather have you in and give you a proper check x

wjg65ka · 13/07/2021 16:41

I just feel like she didn't seem too interested, she wouldn't actually tell me my blood pressure or about my urine other than it's all fine but surely going from the 90th to the 50th would be worth looking into?

I'm such an anxious person as it is so I felt as though I was being brushed off

Yeah I would agree, your blood pressure isn’t dangerously high but could be a sign of something. I haven’t bothered the hospital about anything the whole way through but I know of so many other pregnant people just now who phone them every 5 minutes so they will be more then used to it. Definitely give them a call if you don’t feel right

Dropping from the 90th centile to the 50th should trigger a growth scan. It may just be an oversight but I’d give her a call to request referral

I was in hospital at the weekend for the first time at 39 weeks. The doctor I saw told me very distinctly to trust my gut! That I knew my body/baby better than anyone.

Call them, if they dont think its worth a review then they won't get you in and all that is wasted is a phone call. Its not like reduced movements where they are almost guaranteed to get you in to be safe, in this instance they can see the numbers and make a decision.

A trace of protein is most likely due to contamination. The leukocytes might indicate an infection, did she send off a sample to check? The measurement is difficult to know because it’s always a bit of a guessing game. Different people measuring doesn’t help. Also I’d imagine the head might now have gone down into the pelvis, giving you less of a fundal height measurement. All that said if you feel something isn’t right, act on it. There is a lot to be said for women’s intuition, especially when it comes to pregnancy!

wjg65ka · 13/07/2021 17:40

@Peacefulspirit she didn't send a sample off, she didn't even tell me my blood pressure I had to check on my pregnancy notes. I asked her 3 times and she changed the subject each time

Thanks everyone I've had to leave a message with the MAU as they're currently not taking calls. I just have a strange feeling

Can you call triage? That will be 24 hours a day.

wjg65ka · 13/07/2021 19:03

@thelostartofkeepingsecrets still on hold to them. Hoping they take me seriously as the midwife didn't seem concerned at all

@wjg65ka have you had any success being seen? Hope all is ok

wjg65ka · 14/07/2021 09:38

Hi, I got through at last this morning. There was no one able to speak to me about it last night. They've booked me in for a growth scan for tomorrow morning as baby has dropped a centile. They aren't concerned about my blood pressure for now but told me to keep an eye out for swelling or headaches

I'm just hoping baby is okay

OP posts:
Peacefulspirit · 14/07/2021 12:59

That’s good. Your blood pressure is still within normal parameters so no need to worry on that front. Let us know how the scan goes x

Needingsupportplease · 14/07/2021 13:03

Do not wait until tomorrow if you have a gut feeling something isn't right. Are babies movements ok? When I had my dd i was in and out with reduced movements to be told she was ok every time.. she was born with sepsis, I just knew something wasn't right even though they told me it was x

wjg65ka · 15/07/2021 11:07

Just thought I'd do a little update, baby is fine! He's 6lb 8oz and still on the 90th centile. My bump however is measuring smaller but they aren't concerned. My water level was at 7, she said anything from 2-11 is normal. She checked the cord and it's working fine with the placenta. My placenta is covering my cervix though but I'm having a csection so no issue there

I'm so relieved!! Thanks for all the help, I'm so happy things are going well
