Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

Lots of love @MyGrassIsBrowner you’re in the right place and hopefully you’re getting some rest. I totally hear what you’re saying about it being a positive (in a strange way!) that you get to have the experience of being on the ward. Just reduced the anxiety of the unknown x

Juicytoot287 · 15/09/2021 10:12

@MyGrassIsBrowner
How are you doing today? Any hope of going home or still needing monitoring?

Hope you're ok x

MeadowHay · 15/09/2021 11:32

@MyGrassIsBrowner Hope you're ok Flowers. How are things?

@Peacefulspirit Ooh, how come you could get a sweep at 38w? My midwife never mentioned it to me at my 36w appt, she is coming back for a 38 one next week, wonder if she will offer me. I don't think I would want one tbh though but have the guidelines changed? In my last pregnancy I had a sweep at 39+6 which was my 40 week appt but I was already in early labour at the time and already 2cm and DD was born the following day so who knows whether it sped things up or not. I found it sooo painful though Sad.

Is anyone with their 2nd+ having LOADS more 'lightening crotch' than in first pregnancy? I did have it with DD occasionally but not often and this time I'm finding baby sometimes likes to spend a good hour or two repeatedly doing whatever they do that brings it on every couple of minutes and it is so so painful!! I hope this doesn't continue for the next few weeks til they arrive because it's awful!

Got my eyes tested this morning and bought two new pairs of new glasses. I would recommend to all the first timers that if there's anything like this you need sorting soon, get it done before baby comes! Other things still on my list to sort are hopefully squeeze in another pregnancy massage, get my face threaded, and get my hair cut. Possibly a bikini wax too depending on if baby isn't already here in a few weeks time. I also have a physio appt and my flu jab already booked in for next week.

Peacefulspirit · 15/09/2021 12:41

It was mad, I was just leaving and I was kind of joking and said something like β€œI’ll be begging for a sweep next time I see you” and she just said β€œanytime as long as you’re more than 38 weeks” I did wonder if it’s because I’m 40 πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

summerhillgang · 15/09/2021 15:08

@MyGrassIsBrowner hope you're feeling better, relaxing as much as poss and that the food is good. I totally get you about overcoming any fears of being on a ward, I felt the same after my stint in hospital at 33 weeks - was nice not to have to do anything tbh. Was reassuring more than anything and got to know staff. I've got my midwife appointment in a little bit and doing everything I can to keep my stress levels and blood pressure low😟

Hiya ladies! Quick update, I'm out of hospital now, without baby as she's staying put for now thankfully πŸ™ˆ my cervix was closed and high. To be honest it was nice to have a rest and not have to worry about doing anything. Although DP was begging for me to come home lol.
Basically they kept me in for 24 hours as my blood pressure was quite high but they figured it was because I was worked up and anxious. They give me a right this morning when about 3 consultants and 3 theatre staff came into my cubicle... to tell me they were happy to discharge me. I was like.. was there really any need for you to give me a fright like that πŸ˜† all in their scrubs too, so there's me thinking they were going to take me down to theatre haha.

I'm home now and chilled out after a nice bath. Can't fault the hospital staff even though they were definitely stretched. They were all lovely and helpful. 19 days until my section now and I am getting excited to finally meet my baba.
Thank you for all the well wishes. I hope you ladies are doing well too ❀

excellent news @mygrassisbrowner . Now just keep yourself as rested as possible for your section! No more surprise visits lol.

Last night I woke up with this aqful leg sensation. It was dead, kind of. Almost like an achy crampy dead leg (so hard to describe) which stopped me sleeping. Anyone had anything similar? Could be non pregnancy related but very upset as a busy day at work today with little sleep now.

Also when did your bubs stop as much of the kicks. I am not concerned because she is moving the same amount etc, just more turns and pushing out at me than wallops now. Assuming its because the amount of room in there is changing

Peacefulspirit · 16/09/2021 07:49

Yay @MyGrassIsBrowner glad you’re home. 19 days really isn’t long. Just crazy that we’re having real life babies and soon!!

@Juicytoot287 I had those horrible leg cramps in my last pregnancies. Not sure much this time but you have my sympathy, do bloody painful and for me would only ease if I got up and stretched. Patients often complain of this and apparently quinine and potassium help so tonic water and a banana before bed can help.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 10:23

@Juicytoot287 the dead legs and crampings are normal ime lol! Sometimes bubs can be pressed on a nerve which I find quite often. Movements now will definitely be more like rolls and full body jolts (less room in there now for them to get a good kick or punch out) but the movements are worth keeping an eye on as they definitely shouldn't reduce even though you would expect it at this point with there being less room in them.

I think my girl is bobbing an and out of my pelvis and turning which explains why I'm so much pain. They did me an ultrasound bedside and she was head down, then later on in the evening a midwife had a good feel and reckoned she'd gone back transverse. But that's common with subsequent babies they say. Lucky me lol.

You girls who are still working do need to take it easy now though when you can you'll do yourselves absolutely no favours at all.

Also bit of advice for your hospital stay, take plenty of snacks and water/juice. The hospital food isn't five star obviously, but equally wasn't awful but I found myself getting sooooo hungry. I went for frequent walks up and down the ward too as my legs were seizing up 🀣 xx

God.. apologies for my poor grammer and spelling I'm currently being climbed on by my little girl lol.

I also found the hospital beds quite comfy. Worth taking your own pillow though as they put plastic covers under the pillow cases and they made my head sweat like mad. I love the fact that you can use a remote to make them go up and down, really helped as I'm struggling with getting in and out of bed atm.
They wouldn't allow an electric fan with Covid (might be different for different trusts) so take a hand fan if you have one. I asked the other ladies in the room if they wanted the windows open too so I kept them open cause we were all sweating like mad. I was in a bed directly next to a window which was lush.

Glad to know you're doing better @MyGrassIsBrowner . Will take note of some of your tips.

It is so weird because they aren't like cramp cramps but then I guess that is the only way yoy word it. It has just come back now - absolute nightmare

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 22:08

@Juicytoot287 thanks hunny. I'm glad to be out though I cried when my DP video called me im the hospital with my DD, I have never been apart from her that long since I had her.

The pains are horrid though aren't they. We're on the final stretch now though, I'm just focusing on having newborn snugs now! ☺

OP posts:
Peacefulspirit · 16/09/2021 22:21

@Juicytoot287 I remember them being bloody agony rather than tight cramps. I remembered the other thing that’s supposed to help is being well hydrated….drinking lots before bed at this gestation is a bit of a recipe for disaster though. Hopefully they’ll ease x

Juicytoot287 · 17/09/2021 06:19

Yeah i drink alot anyhow and what not. Had them since 6pm last night on and off and panicked myself about DVT as its just one leg. Obviously no other symptoms but you google it and that's it, implanted!
Did manage to sleep last night at least but I feel all of a sudden this wave of symptoms from my leg, to walking to, to my stomach and back. Think it is my payback for a relatively easy pregnancy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

However as you say, not long to go! 34 weeks now so a bit longer than most of you but manageable. The radio said 100 days to christmas and I thought... shit! That is 2 months after the baby so she must be so soon ahh

mooloop · 17/09/2021 17:54

Aww @Juicytoot287 we're all guilty of consulting dr google πŸ˜‚ but I'm sure it's all fine, just another joy of pregnancy! I'm the same with realising how soon it is - I keep seeing Halloween things in shops and thinking oh gosh οΏΌπŸ˜‚

@MyGrassIsBrowner glad you're home and feeling better Thanks must've been weird being away from your daughter!

Anybody else having a nightmare with getting things delivered? My nursery furniture has already been delayed by about 4/5 weeks and they still can't give me a timescale for when it will be dispatched, and my pram is currently stuck in the Netherlands Grin I'm in that stage of just really wanting to get everything sorted and not having a bloody chest of drawers to put his clothes away in is winding me up something rotten! If I could find furniture that would come in time I'd be tempted to just cancel my order and pick something else but realistically I probably won't be able to find anything now Sad such a first world problem I know but I think the hormones are sending me doolally!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 17/09/2021 18:11

@mooloop thanks hunnie!! Was very strange and really sad being away from my little girl 😭

Honestly, you wanna look on Facebook marketplace for nursery furniture!!! Then cancel the damn order. It's the lack of lorry drivers atm and all this extra paperwork they need to do when importing things into the country. It's literally effecting everything. My DP is waiting for a car part from somewhere on Europe and apparently it's currently just in the ether, lol not helpful! X

OP posts:
mooloop · 17/09/2021 18:30

@MyGrassIsBrowner I've had a look on marketplace but nothing that fits the bill round here 😭 it's so frustrating! I'm tempted to go into town tomorrow and see if anything would fit the bill.

Aww I bet you can't wait for your little girl to meet the new baby 😍 my brother filmed my nephew meeting my niece for the first time and it was the sweetest thing ever!

Juicytoot287 · 17/09/2021 18:45

@mooloop maybe try alternative retailers? I am midlands based and we have a fantastic outlet store near us that does furniture and prams and travel systems all so cheap
Usually just because the box has a dent but sometimes brand new. Could be something similar near you? We bought the cot and took it away same day :) same with travel system

mooloop · 17/09/2021 18:58

@Juicytoot287 yeah I'm gonna go with my mum on a mission tomorrow πŸ˜‚ there's not loads of options here unfortunately, I live in a small city. Not really what I thought I'd be doing at 34 weeks pregnant, still traipsing about looking for furniture πŸ˜‚

summerhillgang · 17/09/2021 19:36

@mooloop my pram and chest of drawers took bloody ages!

I have had a really down day. Just felt really off physically and mentally, headache, constipated, lethargic, feeling stressed out about nothing. Think it might be the massage I had yesterday which was really strong and deep, amazing at the time, but have heard the lactic acid it releases can affect you the next day. Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, my knees and hip were killing, then had to travel to another town to get my flu jab. Dog was going mad in the car as she decided she wanted a poo. Not a happy bunny!

Just had a curry so things are looking up a bit! X

Juicytoot287 · 17/09/2021 19:51

@summerhillgang oh bless. I am feeling similar. Hormones clearly! With not sleeping much and the pain in my leg I am probably more irritable. Feel overwhelmed, exhausted and just generally shit. Got no food in the house because our food shop is due tomorrow so can't even comfort eat!

@mooloop defo not but hey ho, will feel good to get it done and a nice way to look forward to baby with your mom. Could even get a nice coffee and a cake, make a day of it and turn it positive

MeadowHay · 17/09/2021 20:23

Ah sorry people are feeling a bit shit, I think the last month or so of pregnancy does catch up with most people tbh even if it has been plain sailing up til then. At the end of the day your body is working so much harder than usual, it is exhausting and usually uncomfortable! But the end is in sight...!

Struggled with my PGP today particularly this morning as did a lot of walking up hills pushing DD in the buggy, the front of my groin/all around the pubic area was killing me by the time I was walking home Sad then we got in and she had a huge tantrum for 45 mins over her lunch which she's done every day I've had her alone this week Confused. I just couldn't manage that on top of the pain and ended up just crying myself too ugh Sad. So glad DH is around now for the weekend and I'm going for brekkie with a friend of mine tomorrow so will relish the peace.

Nursery furniture I can't help with as with DD we just got odd cheap bits n bobs from Ikea and Argos. We were pretty broke at the time tbf though. We've not bought any additional furniture for this one except for a secondhand changing table off someone local on Facebook for Β£30, huzzah. Their clothes are just going in our spare room wardrobe which we've had to mostly clear out, binned some stuff, moved some stuff to my wardrobe (which is massive) and moved some stuff into the loft.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 17/09/2021 20:38

@mooloop I agree there's nothing sweeter than small children meeting babies for the first time! I dont think I've still fully got my head around the fact that I'm having another daughter tbh.

I second about trying to find an outlet that sell baby stuff ex display and whatnot that you can take away same day, or definitely a trip to Ikea (I've still not been myself 😭)

I'm so sorry you ladies are feeling like crap. My PGP is playing me up too and I genuinely dont know if I could physically manage to get to full term or go overdue or even have the capacity to have a natural birth.. I cant even spread my legs! I say that in the least rude way haha!

The last month of pregnancy is definitely the hardest. Anyone elses feet/ankles/calves tight and swollen by the evening? Mine look ugly! I have ridiculously narrow feet normally.
